"Failed after 7 months but replaced in advance, with no questions ask in only 5 days,"on by pigman--2008
Pros Very fast im running a P3 1000 &systems is faster than systems several years newer
Cons Well it did go bad after a short time
Summary I have two of them now so I thought the speed and good service offset the lemon I got at first.. They sent me a new drive before I sent in the bad unit so I could pull old data off before drive compleatly crashed,, had the same type of problem with a maxtor as well.... wonder if they put the 5400 rpm bearings in the 7400 rpm units by accident??
Pros Not sure what to say - they were good once upon a time.
Cons WD Caviar Blue 320 EIDE. Formatted it straight out of box with WinXP. Rebooted. Drive was stuck on seek mode with "boot sector error". Computer then rebooted continuously unless the drive was unplugged from the PS!
Summary From the box: "Performance and reliability for everyday computing"... my ass! What happened to WD? They used to be pretty good, but now, they are very unreliable. Anyway, WD just COST ME me 2 hours of labor that I can't recoup.
Pros Mediocre Book ends
Cons they die fast, good luck with the warranty
Summary Bought 3 WD2500KS drives, 2 started dying within 6 months dead at 8 months then the third died at 10 months. But they all pass the WD drive scan application (sorta there own crappy spinright).
Best part is RMA'd the first drive and the replacement was dead on arrival. RMA'd that drive in January. It's march now and I still have no drive. Apparently according to UPS (they refuse to use any other currier) I've moved. Seems that if I've moved someone should have told me.
End result, I'm back to my old Seagate drive that i replaced with the 3 WD drives.
Pros Can't think of any
Cons Lack of Support Drives fail
Summary Lack of Support for Failed Drives

Western Digital will not support your hard drive WHEN it fails. On November 16, 2004, I bought a 250GB hard drive. Three months later in February, 2005, I had to return it for a replacement due to a hard failure. Now, this replacement drive too has failed as well after only eight months.
I went through two Western Digital drives in a year due to no fault of my own and the hard drive failed just six days after the warranty expiration. I requested a replacement from Western Digital and they completely ignored me.
Buy at your own risk.
Pros Large storage capacity.
Cons runs hot, files dissapear, fails completly
Summary I have had two of these drives. Both failed after 6 months. I prefer Seagate. They say they make the best drives and offer a 5 year warranty to back it up.
