Summary: Now that WD is changing their warranty on these 2MB-buffer drives to 1 year from 3 years, I wonder is this is a more widespread problem. Drive developed bad sectors without warning, even with S.M.A.R.T. enabled in the BIOS. Very disappointed. Online support was good, but they should allow expedited return or upgrade return online, instead of requiring an email message or phone call. Supplied diagnostic software doesn't run under WindowsXP, though web-based applications was able to diagnose faults.
