"Too hungry on resources"
Pros: I have nothing to like about Symantec products
Cons: Resource hog of a program. There are many free anti virus products out there much better than norton.
Summary: I used it in the past, like about 4 years ago, it was crap then and still is.

Another "I haven't tried the product but I used another version four years ago and didn't like it then" review. Very helpful.

Please, do not judge this 2009 product before you test. I'm telling you, I hated Symantec from 2006 (resource hog) to yesterday. Yesterday I installed Internet Security 2009.

Don't rate based one previous release. Use this before you rate it or give out review.

The consumer reviews deal with Norton Security2009, so have you installed it, used it, and found it to be a resource hog? I also heard the same about previous versions being resource hogs, but according to the current reviews of consumers who are using this 2009 version say it has greatly improved. I will take their opinions into consideration and buy it. I currently have Bit Defender 2007 and am sick of it as it allowed a virus to crash my computer. I will write a review once I've used it for a month or two, and hope these positive reviews did not lead me astray.

The fact you used it 4 years ago means nothing - did you actually try this one? They put so much effort into streamlining 2008 and even more in 2009. It installs quickly and easily and doesn't use anywhere near the resources, even on older PCs.

NIS 2009 is VERY light on resources. Why don?t you install the product before you criticize it!!! There is no way you could have made that comment if you have actually install NIS 2009...

It's really sad that your hatred for Symantec from 4 years ago results in you slamming a new product that was significantly overhauled to address the very "resource hog" issues that you complain about. You haven't even looked at it, admit it, and yet you have the gaul to give it 1 star in some twisted hope to offset what seems to be an overflow of positive statements and ratings - from both the reviewer as well as other CNET users.

did u ecen install NIS 2009.. From, your review it feels like you have not. I suggest you install and see the difference yourself.

2005 called; it wants its review back.
Norton 2009 specifically addresses resource issues. It's now at or near the top of most performance benchmarks.
