No support - you're on your own!

Pros: good virus protection, hourly updates

Cons: NO support, hard to configure

Review: This company doesn't seem to be able to afford any support people. Are they even still in business? The online support page doesn't respond for DAYS and the email support acts as if they didn't understand English (only automated BS). I think they are already out of business and just keep on selling their stuff until the bitter end. NOT EVEN WORTH ANOTHER TRY!

Trend Micro Crashed My Computer

Pros: Updated Automatically

Cons: Cost Me $60.00 After Update From Trend Had Bad Code

Review: I bought the 2006 version. It was fine, until a Trend Micro automatic update had bad code in it. My computer would not boot. I thought I had a virus, so took my computer to Best Buy, where they found none. I only learned, via email on my other, non PC Cillin computer, that Trend had delivered a bad code on an update. I had to enter in safe mode and remove a line they said was bad in the setup. I was LIVID! Trend refused to repay me the $60.00 I lost because of them. I read about many people and companies who had the same massive problems that caused their computers to be down for days. I foolishly gave them another chance with the PC Cillin 2007, but they messed up my computer again with that! From the time I installed it, my XP computer ran as slow as syrup. I finally had to uninstall it, because I did not think I should have to go through any procedure they required for ME to fix it. THEY should have had an update they could install themselves to fix this. They kicked me two years in a row. I will never buy Trend Micro products ever again.

Easily the Best Service

Pros: Been using since 2005, no viruses! Norton = Many viruses.

Cons: Updates pop up frequently.

Review: I have been using products from Trend Micro for a few years after I was burnt by Norton. Updates daily help to keep spyware at bay. If you are currently having problems try housecall on their site, it is a free scan. Being an IT guy, I help many people out with their computers. Recently I have ran into three computers with over 15 viruses and worms. Not to mention the spyware. All of the systems were using Norton. I helped them reformat and put on PC-cillin 2007. If you do not want to be forced into formats, use this product or newer version. If you are experiencing lots of slow down and have Norton, start fresh and secure it with PC-cillin. Norton will not detect the viruses that are there, and they have probably wreaked havoc on your hard drive. PC-cillin is the only recommended security on Consumer Reports. Not sure why cnet.com has not caught up, but may be involved with Norton as a sponsor.

No refund from Trend Micro when program wouldn't work

Pros: I have no pros.--sorry, sorry program

Cons: lots of them

Review: I ordered Trend Micro Internet Security in Jan. It froze my computer. Have contacted co. several times since then and they said I downloaded from Trend Micro E-Commerce and the company is not liable for refund. I have $54.94 invested in this and can not use the product and will never use it again.

very easy to use and will not bog your system down!

Pros: easy to follow menu, all the protection in one!

Cons: none that I have found yet!!

Review: I have been a user of mcaffe products for years and after a friend recommended Trend Micro, I have not returned to Mcafffe. I really love the ease of use and the protection I see I am getting! Spyware, virus, spam and a firewll is all you need and will get with the pc cillin

more solid than norton

Pros: easy to use, fast, does not affect PC performance like Norton

Cons: nothing so far

Review: I've been a Norton Security user for about 4 years. I just got sick of it not correcting virus, live update not working properly, slowing down pc performance, a bit confusing to use - so I switched. I switched because they made it difficult to upgrade and then it didn't work properly. Sorry this is an indictment on Norton, back to PC-cillin. Installed really easy, fast scans, fairly intuitive user interface. I've had it for about 2 weeks and it runs like a champ. I"m glad I made the switch. Norton worked well for a number of years for me, just lately it seemed to be too much trouble for the price. PC-cillin is about 10-20 bucks cheaper too.

good product but not as good as a year ago

Pros: completed protection

Cons: consistantly misses about 1 virus a year

Review: Good product but every year I get a virus that wipes out my hard drive when i use trend so i got to format my hard drive next year im gonna go back to norton and see what they have changed. also 2006 slows down my puter to a crawl at times argghhh.

Do the Free Trial before buying

Pros: Easy download

Cons: Computer turns into dinosaur

Review: In my first days of computers, it was Norton, then CA (Computer Associates) offered a free year. I stayed with CA until this year when they would not honor the $9.95 renewal fee. I came to cnet and tried ZoneAlarm Security Suite and when that expired PC-cillin. That is when my DELL Inpiron 2650 turned into my first Gateway Computer system. System wouldn't start up or down without depressing buttons for extended periods. Internet access was way slower. I picked ZoneAlarm for my purchase. Please, I encourage you to download the Free Trial of PC-cillin Internet Security and see how your computer accepts it. Good luck.

better than most security suites

Pros: works well

Cons: detects microsoft patches as threats

Review: One of the better virus scanning software, programs, only changes that need to be made to the program, is a patch to stop detecting security patches from microsoft as a virus

Nice Product at a nice price.

Pros: Dependable, reliable full package.

Cons: Anti-Spy module could use improvement.

Review: Firrwall passes all leaktests bar none. AV is the bestI have ever used. I purchased new copies of the 2006 and 2007 versions in December 2006 and have decided to install the fresh copy of 2006 version because of the it's lightness on recources. The anti-spy modules shortcommings are of no worry to me because I also use "Spyware Doctor" and "Counter Spy". This is a Security Suite I would recomend to anyone. In the year I have used it I have yet to be infected by a computer virus, whereas on my other PC I use "Zone Alarm 6.57" and have been infected twice by serious virus infections.

Kept crashing

Pros: Attractive price

Cons: Price doesn't matter if it doesn't work

1st rated it a 10, now I think it's a 7

Pros: Fast, loads well

Cons: Too many pop ups, have to keep registering over & over

Review: I bought this out of frustration with Norton & McAfee. Norton was a space hog & took too long to load & scan. It also caused problems with my system. While Trend doesn't do those things, it has way to many pop-up messages and I have to keep re-registering my product on both computers on my network. No customer service either! Trend Micro listen to your customers and provide customer support. The email support is poorly lacking & no phone support. For the price it has a lot of features that I wanted.

Doesn't work on Win 2K

Pros: Works just fine on my Win XP laptop, better than 2005

Cons: The box says it works with Win 2K, that is a baldfaced lie. Yes it will run, however the user interface will not display correctly meaning I can't configure the program.

Review: Tech support was nice and friendly, but no help at all on my main issue of having the GUI chopped off with no scroller bars. I'm using Win 2k only because I'm a cheap skate and Vista continually coming soon. The system is high end enough for any version of Vista (yes I know I'm underclocking to 32 bit with Win 2k, my old system was toast I had to built this one before Vista) They were able to help me on installation. It turns out the PC-Cillin 2005 missed a virus that was screwing up the install of 2006. A simple 5 mintue FREE web scan off their site fixed it, Oh boy does that build confidence. I just received an e-mail from them saying I can get a free download upgrade to 2007. As far as I'm concerned they can't even give it away. I don't know what other program I'll get, NOT Norton, last time I had them it screwed up my system worse than any virus I've ever had. I guess I'll give this a 4 because it does actually work on my Win XP laptop (Win XP is encoded in a drive image file on the system disks, D'OH), but some of the privacy features I've played around with are really anoing. I don't see future versions of this getting any better any time soon, these guys are on the road to a total control program ala Notron 4 years ago.

Get NOD32 software instead

Pros: nice interface

Cons: ineffective against modern rootkit viruses

Review: Hi,

I had been using Trend-Micro for 3 years, as it was MUCH better than Norton. However, PC-Cillin recently failed on me badly so now I've moved to a better antivirus:

Reason 1: I got a virus which PC-Cillin did not detect. The virus then DISABLED PC-Cillin, and deleted Safe Mode from my PC. The style of the virus is called a "rootkit".

Reason 2: To their credit their tech-team did analyse the file, and agreed they would update the software to catch the virus. 3 MONTHS LATER the software still does not detect the virus.

Reason 3: Trend Micro have sent me their renewal bill and it is 50% more expensive from last year ($55 last year - $80 this year!!). That is Australian Dollars.

Reason 4: The firewall configuration is clunky, and I still can't work out how to let ICMP packets through. Two emails to their help desk didn't help solve my problem.

Reason 5: I looked around at several other virus checkers. The best one turned out to be NOD32. It detected about 20 virus infected files that PC-Cillin didn't. NOD32 is also faster and cheaper than PC-Cillin, and has a 30 day fully functional trial version.

Loved the old one. HATE the new one!!

Pros: I really can't think of anything good to say

Cons: They overcomplicated their original solution

Review: They messed with a good thing. The original version worked just fine, then they added SO MANY complications. I ended up blocking things that I shouldn't have. They provide no information to say this is probably legit. It's all a guessing game.

WORSE - when you do make a setting in one part of the program, it doesn't take it in another part.

I used to be a big fan and highly recommended them to friends. Now I'm telling them to dump it fast!!!

Robust Protection Without PC Slow Down

Pros: Doesn't affect PC Performance

Cons: Took a min to configure

Review: Well after years of Symantec and using Norton?s only, I made the switch because the program was killing the performance of all my machines.

I'm very happy with this product and it does a great job both detecting and removing any spyware and virus.

The only con was it took a little bit to configure it properly, but not a biggie for me.

By far a great product with little to no impact on machine performance and overall has great features.

Excellent - do not believe on those weird bad OPINIONS

Pros: Good Interface, Excellent Virus Detection, AntiFraud Wizard

Cons: Firewall can be Improved

Review: Excellent Package.

I have previously used Norton and McAfee Internet Security packages and found Pc-cilling to be better than them.

It is better than Norton and McAfee. Fast and does not slow the computer's performance and does not utilize a lot of system resources like Norton and McAfee.
Clean and Fast Install.
AntiSpyware can be improved and Firewall should have more detailed options.

Good product, poor phone support

Pros: Good product for anti virus, average ad/spyware blocking

Cons: Firewall has to be turned off if installing Wifi system or it wil mess up your computor, poor phone support(no one speaks english), was denied rebate after 8 months of paperwork/phone contact.

Poor! Wen't back to Norton

Pros: Interface, installation

Cons: Buggy, poor firewall, too simplistic, support sucks

Review: I decided to give Trend a try after trying Norton and McAfee for many years. All I can say is "Big Disappointment". For one thing, they have ZERO support. I thought McAfee and Symantec were bad..ugh. I couldn't even get a tech taht spoke english...I think I was routed to the Philippines. Anyway, aside from the support issues the Firewall is REALLY WEAK. It's barely better than XP SP2. Hard to configure and no advanced options. I also had numerous issues with updates..the updates came down, but it would alert me that it was out of date all the time. Just what I need, a program that can't even tell it's up to date.

Advice - if the price is too good to be true, it probably is. i.e. McAfee gives their products away, and Trend is ultra low cost. I went back to Norton...not perfect, but alot better than this.

good so far

Pros: simple, trustworthy

Cons: things pop up more than Norton 2005 Internet with spy ware

Review: Ive always had Norton, and 2005 Internet with antispyware edition was my last. After reading reviews here I was shocked at how bad of a rep Norton has. Well, so far everything is good and I feel safer. PC boots much faster and was a clean install. Follow directions, easy and seems to be trustworthy. Also, I play a flight simulator game which seems to be running better. I'm about 64mb of ram to short to run at best quality.

The best Anti-virus I have Found to date, The firewall needs work

Pros: Simple t0 use, great interface and extensive coverage and very reliable!

Cons: The Firewall Is not up to par W/ Mcafee Personal firewall plusFP (+)

Review: The anti-vifus combined with Mcafee PFP (+ )and spyware doctor 4.0 is the best combo I have found. The norton 2006 swuite got me messed up twice as my PC became infected so bad I had to re-boot. This combo listed above lets me feel very secure no matter where I go on the internet. The PC Cillin has an easy to use interface and it is "DEPENDABLE". I recomend this combo to everyone including novice and experienced users alike!!!
Updated
I'll tell you what. The poor reviews of the 2006 suite are reviews I hab=ve to disagree with. To me it is an improvement from 2005. The scan times have been decreased by 40% and the interface has been somewhat cleaned up. This is not an overly agressive firewall and should be a great suite for beginner to intermediete computer users. Overall I would rate this product an 8.0. For anybody who is wonderind I also own the "Zone Alarm 2006 Suite" which I use on my personal PC, but the others all have this suite which is more than adequate. I am currently testing the 2007 "PC Cillin Suite" and so far I find slower scans and an increased drag on my PC's recources. The 06 suite shows no such drag. Also and important is the 06 suite can be purchased for $22.00 if you shop on line.

No regrets after getting a fastar, safer and better PC

Pros: Fast, secure and easy

Cons: What do we really know?

Review: I converted from Symantec to Trend Pc-cillin after many years of frustration with the yellow and black hog.
It was a relief to discover that Pc-cillin just works and with an easy to use panel.
I am telling everybody I know to convert to the same program (I am that guy everybody ask for help regarding computers), and believe me when I tell you that I get a lot fewer requests of help now than before.
Remember, if you change from Symantec to Trend Pc-cillin, you must use Symatec removal tool to get your machine in shape again.

Even if I'm so far satisfied with Pc-cillin, I still don't know how good the different features are.
I know that the 2006 version has got better reviews than the 2006 version. I think though, that Trend Pc-cillin is here to stay, and that we will se more and more improvements.
I just hope and ask the Australian company who's making this tool will keep it fast and simple, and not do the same mistake as Symantec ? who made a slow big hog that corrupts the pc, leaving a lot of difficulties behind after an uninstall.

TERRIBLE IF YOUR CONFIG CONFLICTS

Pros: NONE i KNOW OF FOR MY SYS CONFIGS

Cons: GETTING A REFUND FOR A PRODUCT THAT DOESN'T WORK & IS IMPOSSIBLE

Review: IF YOU HAVE A KNOWN XP CONFIG THAT CONFLICTS (YES, THERE ARE KNOWN XP CONFIG'S THAT CONFLICT, CHECK WITH ms) MIGHT AS WELL BURN YOUR $ BECAUSE TREND MICRO WILL NEVER REFUND YOUR COST. EVEN NORTON REFUNDS RETAIL PURCHASES. i PURCHASED 2 PC-CILLIN, SUPPORT WAS TERRIBLE AND RE REFUND ALL i'VE GOTTEN IS bs

Very Comprehensive and useful product

Pros: Quick virus scanning...plenty of options

Cons: could have an easier way to change or designate firewall and network settings

Review: I previously had McAfee installed on my computer, and after the 2007 version was released the already resource hog program took about half of my ram and i have 768mb. It also started reducing my HDD space by creating an excessive amount of metadata in the C:/$Secure:$sds file. And there was no way to retrieve it along with problems with msconfig and others. Eventually i had to do a full reinstall of xp. even though mcafee had a good antivirus/firewall it was a resource hog and wont go back until they fix all of these problems

Trend micro on the other hand is just about as comprehensive as mcafee and is easier to use and is NOT a resource hog so my computer is still fast. While i had mcafee on my computer time from signing in to log in was 45 sec. now, and all of the settings are the same even on the reinstalled cpu (and all variables accounted for. eg frgamentation becuase both had same treatments) startup time is 15 SEC yea!!!!

i love this product and when the trial expires i am going to buy it. !!!

Truly the Best All-in-One Package

Pros: All-in-one, light on resources, easy to use

Cons: None found thus far

Review: I left Trend about a year ago being cheap (didn't want to renew), so I used E-Trust as a free antivirus, zonealarm as a free firewall, and spybot as a free spyware fighter. Nothing necessarily wrong with these products themselves; they all did their jobs. However, they were heavy on my system combined, and I occassionally had problems with Zone Alarm. Trying to manage updates for all 3 was tough, and I decided that I should go back to Pc-Cillin. One major reason is that the school system that I serve in Chicago uses Trend for their whole system of 600 schools, so Trend is a trusted name. I figured their consumer version must be great too, and it is. It's light, it's quick, and it does it's job. I'm currently on a 90 day trial from the Microsoft site, and whent it's over I'm going to buy it from that site for $25 for one year.

Easy App for Internet Security

Pros: Quick learning curve, great protection, easy to use customer support

Cons: None so far

Review: Trend Micro has released a fantastic Internet Security Application. I originally bought Norton Internet Security from Costco and had hoped that it would provide the great service that a name like Norton should bring. However, my PC was infected with a virus, that whenever I would try to bring up system restore, a white, blank screen would be presented to me. My PC would make strange mouse movements, and while on the internet I would type in the URL bar "I know you're watching me," and things would stop perhaps for that day. Luckily I was a minor at the time, and I wasn't logging in to sensitive websites for online banking. Then I got Trend Micro Internet Security Suite, and along with free spyware applications, such as Microsoft Antispyware, Ad Aware Personal, and a second level firewall from ZoneLab, my computer has run free of any troubles, and with limited system resources being used, I can surf the internet without slowing myself down, and knowing that I am safe.

All other security suite have major flaws...except this one!

Pros: Good protection, good price, light on resources, worry free!

Cons: None, quality product with no visible flaws

Review: Syamntec is bundled crap eating up your RAM and other resources.

ZoneAlarm has a whole user board full of problems and issues they are having! This security suite, out of all, is screwing up PC's left and right.

McAfee, holding symantecs hand in imbedding itself in your PC making it difficult for users to uninstall their software.

AVG, good but missing some important features.

PC-Cillin has the best of both worlds. I have run it through rigorous tests and it has passed them all with no exceptions. It's virus protection is excellent, firewall is effective, privacy is superb, and overall system performance is outstanding. Install and forget program that doesn't require users to keep making decisions about their security.

The little guys always come out on top! If you are considering changing to a software suite, consider PC-Cillin, and you won't have to worry weather your computer will start after installation.

Solid Product

Pros: Easy to use, passes security tests, excellent value for the money, outstanding 1-800 customer support

Cons: Anti-spyware feature suspect, registering the product

Review: I used Norton Security Suite for years until I realized just how much it slowed up my system, and how unwiedly, inefficient and bloated it is. I picked up PC-Cillin Internet Security 2006 for about 25 bucks when it was on sale, and I feel strongly that currently this is by far the best solution for surfing the internet safely. It's easy to install. It's virus detection is updated about twice a day. The firewall is formidable. Virus scans are a lot faster than Norton. There are a few downsides, however. I seriously question the usefulness of the spyware sweeper; it's never found a single incidence of spyware since I've been using it. However with freeware like Spybot and Ad-Aware, and more fully featured products like Spy Sweeper (real time protection is worth the money) available, it's not that big of a deal. However this is one area that the folks at Trend Micro need to invest a little bit of an effort. Also, registering the product is a little bit funky. Even though you've installed it with the code, you still have to register an email address on the website and create a profile before the program is actually registered. If you don't do this, you can't download updates. All told, these are minor quibbles. PC-Cillin Internet Security 2006 is a great value, and personally I've been impressed. Highly recommended.

Rebate Hell

Pros: Product is actually very good.

Cons: Hard to get the rebate.

Review: Product was easy to install and use and has worked great for about three months. As others have posted, getting a rebate out of them is difficult. Online check shows my rebate was rejected for improper documentation. Says denial letter was sent in June, but I have yet to see it. Companies need to step up and see that their rebate system works -- or just reduce the price.

Works without slowing down windows XP

Pros: Fast, thorough without being noticed.

Cons: Lots of features so set up can be tedious.

Review: Excellent price performance ratio. Cnet buying choices options got me the best price too! This program works well without slowing down the internet experience.

User Rating: 10/10

I am so happy it stinks!!

Pros: It works, fast, easy, perfect!!!

Cons: None I can find so far.

Review: PC - cillin is GREAT!!!! It installed in about 30 minutes, with not a hitch! The version I am using was the free 30 day trial. I am excited to actually give them money for it!

I used to be a Norton customer for almost 20 years. My old software expired, and said i needed to renew my subscription. In the process I bought the combo package of Norton anti virus, firewall, and I believe norton utilities, or whatever the new name is.

It took over my computer, deeper than windows, and prevented me from being able to use my computer for what seemed like many frantic hours. I was just about to re-install windows when I found a way out. It then took much more time to completely get Norton out of my computer.

Top Nothch Product - Well done Trend Micro

Pros: Does all is says it does

Cons: None can't find any

Review: I used to be an avid Symantec user but of late it slowed my PC down dramtically and casued numerous crashes. I looked around for an alternative and tried PC-Cillin Internet Security 2006. Since I've downloaded it I have not looked back. Easy to use and configure, uses less system resources and it WORKS !! On first scan it detected infections and cleaned them.

CNET's says spyware utility can be more aggressive, okay supplement it with Ewido or Spyware Doctor.

What more could you ask for? This has all you need.

Pros: No clutter, silently works in the background, easy interface, very user friendly

Cons: Haven't found one yet.

Review: I have tried ZoneAlarm 6, Norton IS 2006, Freedom (Adelphia cable offered), and though the previously mentioned items have a bit more (more complete suites), they also clutter your workspace, and memory. Enter- PC Cillin. The price is great, the interface is great, user friendly, simple "Penicillin" icon on your taskbar.

Great tool. period.

Works great but minor problems

Pros: Ease of installation, to use, interface, updates, Trend Micro reputation

Cons: Spyware section need improvement, wireless network detection only good if all computers are running TM Internet Security. Customer service not computer techs.

Review: I have had no problems yet with TM Internet Security 2006. I am not sure why people are having major problems, I am not an advanced computer user. I find it easy to use. It updates fine and scans regularily. Setting up the wireless connection took a while to figure out but works fine now.
I called customer support about the network detection picking up my router and other computer, and the person I spoke to I am sure was not a computer tech. Every question I asked they put me on hold.

The spyware scanning section needs some improvement. I downloaded their new stand alone spyware program trial from their site. It would be nice if it was included with the Internet Security package.

I think Trend Micro has a good reputation so I am going to continue being a customer.

Did not catch phishing and virus on my PC

Pros: Inexpensive, full suite of required products

Cons: Memory hog; Frequent annoying messages; Does not catch common viruses and phishing even though configured for such; Interface

Review: I switched from Norton Personal Firewall last year because of its outbound email scanning function blocking my ISP emails from being sent out. Trend Micro PC-Cillin was recommended to me by my ISP (Bell Canada) as one that might work. I tried the software on a trial basis and found it worked fine, email included. So I purchased the whole suite. For the most part it's been ok, although I find it boggles down my system in memory usage (much slower running with PC-cillin than without). Updates are frequent, some of them recently requiring reboot of PC (don't know why). In any event, scans of my computer have routinely come up clean, for both viruses and malware/spyware. This morning I received a phishing email on my Yahoo! account from someone pretending to be PayPal, when I opened the email PC-cillin did NOT alert me to a phishing attempt. So I'm disappointed. Should I go back to Norton or another product? I don't know, I'm going to read all the comparative reviews here on c|net to see which would be the best.

Brilliant, knocks spots off of the opposition

Pros: Easy to install and set up

Cons: built in warnings need taming!

Review: This is simply the best available right now, it never causes any of the 'system hangs' which I continually suffered with norton. I would recommend Internet security 2006 to everyone. I use it on four computers and since dumping norton have suffered zero invaders.

Someone Please Help

Pros: Easy to use

Cons: Cannot delete all files at once

Review: When I run the system scan, it will pull up over a hundred cookies and other files. I cannot figure out how to delete them all at once. Having to click on each one, click the delete button, and then confirm with the Yes button is a real pain. Does anyone know how to delete all files at once?

Pros: easy to set up

Cons: let in Conscorr!

Review: Not only did it not block Conscorr but they said they did not know about this trojan and could I send a system log so they could learn about it. I suggested they do a google search as there are about 50 hits on Conscorr including www.conscorr.com at that point they suggested I buy their anti-spyware as the version included in their anti-virus is "not very robust". Nice that they mention that now....

I ended up using microsoft live safety to identify and remove the Conscorr files. And that software is free.

Really disappointed as I had no problems up until this.

Back to Zone Alarm for us - this program is a disaster! CNET's rating is way off on this one!!!

Pros: less expensive, abilitity to run scans on all computers on the network.

Cons: have to make separate in/out rules. not intuitive enough. Anti-Spy function is a joke

Review: We were diehard Zone Alarm fans until their prices creeped up so we switched to TM;s Pcilling Internet Seccurity. We were happy with 2005 version of Trend Micro, though we didn't use it on the high security setting. When realized we still had leaks (www.grc.com Leak Test) we tried to upgrade to the high security level. 2005 gave us problems, so like fools we upgraded to 2006 Trend Micro. I just processed one return, giving up after trying to make it work for weeks. Skype no longer works with 2006. LOOONG delays, which disappear as soon as we unload the Trend Micro firewall. No TM support so no cure.

TM's ability to have one person run a scan on the entire network was a big plus to us.
But TM's rulemaking is really substandard. In particulary, you have to write separate In/Out for all rules, whereas other programs give you the options of In, Out, AND In/Out. Zone Alarm is far more intuitive and allows us to operate at a high security level with relative ease, and without having to go to geek school.
Set at high security, TM asks you one time if you want to allow it. Zone alarm asks you if you want to allow it this time, or always, so if you're not sure that the .dll or whatever refers to, you can allow it this time and wait to see if it asks for the same permission the next time you add the program.

The anti-spyware program is worse than bad. It gives you a list of cookies its classifies as spyware, with a code type. It doesn't tell you what the cookie it, only the type, so you don't know if it is a cookie you want. And if you want to trust TM's evaluation and delete them, you have to do so one cumbersome cookie at a time.

This program is for people who don't need much of a firewall, so they can set their security on medium and hope for the best.

TM doesn't take phone calls, and only takes emails by webform, so if your problem doesn't fit into their mold, and if you can't attach a error file, you lose out - you can't even contact technical support.

I only renewed most of our company's TM subscriptions for another year 2 months ago, but have decided to can the renewals anyway, and pay for Zone Alarm as well, if thats any indication of how much I like this version. Wonder if I can sell them for a penny on ebay?

I want to like it, but cant on my pc :(

Pros: Fast, well organised, original, good protection

Cons: Wireless lan didnt work for me.

Review: I love the stuff tha comes out of the Cillin offices, its really bright, refreshing and makes a change tot he other big names. However i couldnt get this to work properly with my wireless. I even tried hard rules, but to no avail. Turn it off and the wireless works fin, turn it back on and it doesnt. Shame, cos i want to install this.
One thing, front end isnt as plush as it could have been, feels like im back on windows 98 on 640x480 or something, maybe do with flashing up a bit, but under the hood works great I m sure, shame firewall didnt work form me - doesnt mean it wont for you, and you'll get support.

Extremely difficult to install. Daily interuption with updates bothersome.

Pros: On top of new viruses.

Cons: Way to difficult and time consuming to upgrade from 2005 version

Review: Spent three days with five PC-cilin technicians trying to install 2006 version. Needs numerous fixes to get it started. May be inexpensive, but you get what you pay for on this one. The 2005 version was great, but the 2006 version is a monster.

Trust is why I upgraded.

Pros: Early Virus Protection

Cons: Spam/Adware Protection Could be Better

Review: This is my 3rd year with PC-Cillin and I upgrade out of trust for this product. It has never failed me. My son's note book came preloaded with McAfee and in a week a Trojan made its way past the McAfee. We dumped the McAfee and even though it was still good for 6 months and installed PC-Cillin. I have legal access to both Norton and McAfee for free but I do not trust their protection and PC-Cillin has not failed to protect me yet.

Ignore the bad reviews, no AV program is better

Pros: Anti-bad everything in one package, plus a firewall

Cons: No 64-bit support, default settings need to be changed

Review: Unlike Norton, this program works. Unlike Norton, this program does not mislabel competition's software as bad. Unlike Norton, this program updates often. Unlike Norton, this program will work for the full year of your contract.

Make no mistake, this is the best antivirus program, period. It isn't a resource hog when it scans, but is still plenty fast. It includes a host of stuff to keep you secure.

Now the bad. There is no 64-bit support and none coming (I asked). The default firewall settings let in some annoyances and keep out some good things. Default scanning settings are not comprehensive enough. Scheduled scans need to redone if you leave your PC running 24/7.

I dump Norton and never looked back. Use it for 1 year, and you'll wonder why you put up with the inferior Norton and McAfee.

PC-CILLIN WORKS FINE FOR ME

Pros: EASY TO INSTALL

Cons: HAVE NOT FOUND ANY

Review: I bought pc-cillin a week ago. It was easy to install and works great. I have turned on all the security extras including the firewall. I have a cable modem connected to a zywall 2 router which also has a firewall installed in the router. They work great in tandem. I set the pc-cillin to run 2 different scans every morning and they are doing their job. I have adaware, spybot, and pest patrol that I also run for spyware. Cws shredder i use once a week. My computer is well protected and the wireless feature with the pc-cillin that alerts you when someone is trying to piggyback on your wireless signal works well also. I took the encryption off my wireless network just to see if the feature worked. Plus you can set the pc-cillin to check your wireless system every 5 minutes or 15 minutes etc. It altered me anytime someone tried to jump on my network. I paid 39 bucks for pc-cillin. I have used Norton for years. pc-cillin does not drag my system down like Norton.

TM-IS-2006 - Our fourth PC-Cillin

Pros: Very Capable Product

Cons: Technical Support - Lack of a Manual

Review: TM-IS/PCC 2001, 2002, 2004 - now 2006

Yep, NortBurn, McFatty and ZonePain don't deserve any more mention. Please note the differences of firewall/anti-virus programs compared with adwatch, grayware, malware programs - they are not the same animal.

PCC is quite a leap beyond the other products. But, as many products are, they really can not stand alone without support. We use PCC-2006 [on startup], LavaSoft AdAwareSEpro w/AdWatch [on startup], SpyBot S&D [non-resident] and a couple of other non-resident. Every product has its own idea as what is spyware, grayware, malware, etc. Ran a test. Went on the internet to many websites and let the computer fill with cookies and the such. Ran eight different programs to only FIND and LIST issues. AdAware and SpyBot came up as a pair that work well. What one didn't find the other did. On-line TrendMicro Housecall did the rest. Back to PCC, my experience is...

If you have issues with PCC, in the Program Files > Trend Micro > [program folder] is a tool called PCCTOOL.exe. Run this to uninstall the program - it also removes all registry entries. Reboot. Delete Program Files > Trend Micro folder and all its contents. Reboot. ** Now remove other firewall/anti-virus program left overs **. Turn off windows firewall if applicable. Re-install TM. Enable or disable proxy service as required. This may help many of you.

If your computer runs slow or installation problems - did your computer have a different firewall/anti-virus program previously installed? When uninstalled - was it completely removed. Not just by Add-Remove Programs - but really removed - ALL registry entries. This is very common occurance with customers computers brought in for maintenance and service - "off-the-shelf" computers most notably.

NEVER run two firewall and/or anti-virus programs simultaniously in resident memory. Never run two firewalls ever. Pick one anti-virus and one adware, grayware, malware program to run at startup. Keep the others non-resident and use at maintenance or trouble times. (note: enable the routers "block ping" feature if it has one)

TM-IS-2006 is a great product. The BASIC setup is good - but has holes. Wi-Fi Detection does not work consistanly - sometimes finds computers, routers and VoIP ATA's on your network - sometimes not. Overall it's a great idea that needs some tweaking from TM. If the firewall is enabled or disable - trusted sites will have NO effect until you enter the firewall exception list and tweak the NETBIOS settings. There is no manual, KB or FAQ for this - come on TM time to get with it. The default exception lists will continue to allow ANY computer access irregardless of Wi-Fi settings. These two features work together and one can over-ride the other - becareful if you are seriously narrowing and tweaking your network/PC security protection. You can lock out other a PC's, printers and routers accidently or you can allow in everything just a easily.

This product will run fine out of the box - on one computer or a network of computers. If you intend to tweak your network - don't rely on tech support that much. Learn about TCP/UDP, static IP addressing and get your LAN file and print sharing off of TCP. Then tweak TM-IS/PCC - she'll come through and her capabilities will be seen.

We are on our fourth 10-user license and are very pleased. How many of you noticed TM-IM/PCC found things NortBurn and McFatty missed and allowed in???

Happy Trojan Extermination - FireDoc

Excellent and miles ahead of Norton & Zone Alarm

Pros: Speedy, thourough, and secure

Cons: Anti Fraud a joke, Spam control lacking

Review: I was a long time Norton user. I just switched to PC-cillin after trying both Norton NIS 2006 and Zone Alarm. The later 2 slowed my computer by 30% and I have lots of ram (2GB). Norton stopped Outlook Express from working, and corrupted my computer with many bugs. Zone Alarm slowed the computer to a crawl and put my internet connection almost back to dialup speed! Go Trend Micro, -FAST software,Fast Computing, Fast Internet, Virtually no bugs. They will bury Norton and Zone alarm at this rate. I'm putting it on all my computers and retiring Norton of any kind on my computers. It's junk!!!

Best there is

Pros: Cheap .Ease of use.

Cons: You need to literate to use.

Review: This is by far the best security suite ever. Cheap, easy to use, uses little resourses, what else is there? People who slag it have either never used it or a comlete newbs who don't realize PC's don't replace intelligence.

Product is ok, but customer support is terrible

Pros: Improvements over previous version, generally easy to use

Cons: Customer support is awful. They ignore emails and do not adequatetly resolve problems.

Review: I loved the 2005 and previous versions, but they blew it with 2006. It has problems updating, and they can't fix it.

I had to dump the program because they continued to ignore my email requests for help. They still have not refunded my purchase. I'll have to challenge the purchase with the credit card company.

Good alternative to zonealarm security suite for home network

Pros: Very easy to use, plenty of options for antivirus congfiguration.

Cons: resource hog, not a strong firewall as compared to others in market

Review: One of the family oriented security software which is easy to use and configure. Very few security suite offers such ease of use( except Onecare). Daily updates and fast scanning.

User Rating: 9/10

Trend has best update features (daily)

Pros: Trend autoupdates daily

Cons: Could use better spyware

Review: Trend updates daily while Norton & MCaffee offer daily manual updates the autoupdates are generally weekly. Norton interferes with installs and McAffee spyware incorrecly identifies some programs as spyware and adertises it's products through its updates. McAffe also uses activeX for updates, a security risk. Trend lacks these problems.

Clearly superior to competition since 2002 version

Pros: Not Available

Cons: Not Available

Review: In my technical consulting service the biggest source of new business lately is repair and file recovery on PCs that have been infected with malware to the point of unusability. The majority of these PCs have current versions and update subscriptions to either Symantec or McAfee antivirus products, but have become infected despite supposed protection. I can successfully attach the infected hard drive to my system via USB, then fully scan and clean it with PC-Cillin 2006. PC-Cillin finds and removes viruses and worms that have gotten by Symantec and McAfee, and in most cases disabled their scan engine and/or auto-update process. The client will typically request that a license for PC-Cillin be installed on their PC before return, and I don't hear from them again until the yearly subscription renewal, except for praise of the Trend Micro product.

Excellent! A great product that beats Norton & Mcafee

Pros: Stable, Fast, Secure, Full Featured, Easy to use, Secure!

Cons: Activation system on the web is a Hassle

Review: Buy it!

Its everything you need in terms of PC Security when topped off with free solutions for antispyware. It isn't from a big brand like Norton or Mcafee but in this case thats a good thing. Norton is putting out big bloated crapware along with Mcafee. If you need to be productive and don't want to wait 15 minutes for your machine to boot then junk norton and buy this.

It is the best in the market.... no doubt

Pros: very fast scanning and doesn`t use too much resources

Cons: anti-spyware could be even better

Review: I started using 2005 version after my disapointement with norton antivirus.... it was horribel.... i was atacked all the time and norton just wouldn`t even react.... my computer was a mess but i decided that i had to change so i tried pc-cillin and just coudn`t be more happy with it.... my computer is clean and working great.... The 2006 version is even better.... the anti-spyware is much better as well as the firewall.... coudn`t be more satisfied with it.... Congratulations to Trend Micro for this....

I just love this software...
After those bad experiences with norton, mcafee and Bitdefender it was a relief to find something like this...
Reviews all say good things about this and they`re all true...
Antispyware needs work...
It`s been a year with it so I know what I`m talking about...

Easy to install & configure, no real performance drag

Pros: Simple installation, excellent phone support

Cons: Auto scan on installation

Review: As a long term Norton user I was very disappointed when Norton refused to scan after installation. I will not (again) waste 2-3 hours in looking up FAQs, re-booting many times and getting nowhere! PC-cillin proved simple to install, easy to navigate, and now my PC boots fast with no noticeable drag on performance, unlike Norton which slowed everything down. And I'm confident re the strength of protection.
Very happy to date.

v2005 was good, stay clear of v2006

Pros: Fast scans, thats about it

Cons: Caused problems that the previous version did not

Review: I strongly recommend staying clear of this product. Let me start off by saying I was a HUGE advocate of the 2005 version, recommending it to all my associates. I have done a complete 180 since upgrading to 2006. It is a mess. They screwed up a good product. Trend Micro's proxy server kept locking up. The only way to resolve it was a complete reboot. After turning off the service (I use Win XP Pro), it still did it! How does that happen? And when you turn the TMPROXY service off, you lose internet security! Their customer support stinks. After waiting 4 days for a reply, they said to shut the service down. Duh! Thank you Trend Micro. I am now demanding my money back.

If you are using v2005 stick with it. This is a VERY bad product.

I can't believe it!

Pros: Awsome scanners

Cons: May not find the most tiny spyware

Review: This security suite rocks, so I got spysheriff, I used the online spyware scanner and it cleaned them all out! Not even Spyware Doctor And Spysweeper found them!
Then I got the security suite and several months spyware and virus free...

This is a very good program, but......

Pros: Good protection, easy to use, doesn't seem to slow my system

Cons: You can do all of this for free

Review: I bought this program after reading many reviews. Installation was easy. Set-up was reasonably easy. I am happy with the program however........

I was using all free software before buying this. Adware, Ewido, SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard for spyware. AVG Antivirus free edition for virus scanning. Zone Alarm free edition for a firewall. I never had any problems while using these programs.

After installing PC-cillin and expecting big things, I was surprised by the results.

PC-cillin found no viruses, a good thing. PC-cillin found 2 cookies that were only there because I told Adware to leave them there. And it reported 1 Internet explorer toolbar that as far as I can tell isn't installed on my machine. I followed their extensive advice on un-installing this toolbar and couldn't find it.

My conclusion, this is a very good program that I could have saved my money on.

User Rating: 5/10

slowed my PC to a crawl

Pros: haven't add any viruses

Cons: my startup/shutdown now takes...forever...popups interrupt my work

Review: i have to buy something else that won't make my computer so slow. this is maddening! i've already juggled hard drive items, defragmented the drive, cleared out tmp files and caches and cookies and no help.

Pros: Easy install, 10minute set up

Cons: none so far

Review: Trouble free install, 10 minute set up.
Computer now boots up twice as with norton.
No problems whatsoever so far.

Great Product, never had a problem

Pros: Low system resources required

Cons: Outsourced tech support

Review: I've used PC-cillin internet security versions 2004, 2005 and now 2006. Satisfied customer that keeps coming back.
I've tried Norton Internet Security, ZoneAlarm 6.0, Windows Firewall, NOD32, Ad-Aware SE, Spybot, Grisoft AVG. combinations of all of these in various configurations and pc-cillin 2006 is the best thing going.

I'm good to go with this product for the long run.

User Rating: 10/10

great product!

Pros: Excellent firewall protection - 4 different protection levels, excellent real time virus protection!

Cons: need to reboot after his first update

Review: Before having pc-cillin internet security 2006 i had symantec, after that mcafee .. both of them disappointed me .. I had few trojans/viruses in my pc that slow down my pc big time, the reboot was taking also 2 long.. and none of the antivirus software listed above could kill them .. I was very angry and was about to format my hard and before doing that i remember there's one more antivirus i didn't tried ...

I got the antivirus the pc-cillin internet security 2006 .. he killed them all and cleaned my pc..now it works very good, like new.., i am very proud of this antivirus and also recommend to all of you .. install it and forget about it, it does all the necessary work for you. From a scale to 1-10 I rate it to 10!

Excellent program for a medium knowledgeable person

Pros: It has great protection for spyware, malware and adware.

Cons: None that I can see right now.

Review: I just got the PC-cillin 2006 and installed it without any problems. I got a virus with Norton 2006 antivirus so I got rid of that and switched over to Trendmicro. Took me a little getting used to setting it up but really love it. I also called Trendmicro and got good service and answers for some questions I wanted to know about some of the settings. Will buy it again! Down with Norton and McAfee.

Trial great, but...

Pros: Good firewall,antivirus & antispyware

Cons: Can't register the dern thing, no response to support

Review: The trial was excellent. Easy download & install, simple setup, worked beautifully without too much system drag. Oh, goodie, I'll buy it. Woe! Cannot register the thing, online 'knowledge base' does not address the registration problem, only instructing how to register as if no problems-and only on older versions. Inability to register = inability to update. Hours wasted trying various things to successfully register to no avail. There is no response to customer service. Ah well. Time to find something else. And it was such a good thing, too...

Not the same as 2005

Pros: Very complete features

Cons: Resource hog with a habit of crashing apps

Review: We're a TrendMicro reseller and out of the first 6 copies we've sold we had 6 returns whereas 2005 we've had zero returns. On our own system we noticed significant slow downs, system lockups and one machine that wouldn't even boot after installation. Not compatible with ANY other firewall (doesn't matter if the 'other' firewall is active or not - just being there will keep you from booting up) and has major problems with at least two VPN solutions. TM gave us a link to a 'toned-down' version that wasn't quite toned down enough so we're still working with TM on these issues.

User Rating: 1/10

Zero customer support

Pros: The product performed as adervitised

Cons: But it was IMPOSSIBLE to renew

Review: I had the 2005 version, which expired. I spent 72 hours, 40 phone calls, and unnumerable emails trying to get my subscriptin to renew.

My email went unanswered (for 3 weeks).
My calls were routed to people in Pakistan, who were only setup for technical help, not order fullfillment.
My complaints were ignored.

Buy this product if you only need a year of protection and don't plan on requiring ANY help.

Otherwise, steer clear of this one. The company's focus is on getting your $29.99, not on keeping you as a happy customer.

Pros: Easy Install, doesn't slow down computer

Cons: none so far

Excellent at consumer point of view.

Pros: Excellent at first glampse

Cons: Because Cnet cant be bothered reviewing this product, no-one knows what faults it might have.

Review: This product is leaps and bounds ahead of its 2005 version. I don't know what is taking the idiots at CNET so long to review this product. It's interface has been improved, it now detects PUP's along with Mcafee and Norton in realtime.

Overall, I don't know how good the functions are compared to Mcafee's (They're was ahead of Nortons)But it definately looks like a step in the right direction. The non hogging of system resources and the compatability with Prior versions of Windows, along with an excellent price tag cheaper than that of the competition, should see this product wipe Norton of the market.

Unfortunately many people are still to narrow minded to leave Norton and respect them for whatever garbage they release. In any security situation Trend Micro or Mcafee are what you should turn to. Zone Alarm is overrated and annoying, and Norton is bloated rubbish.

Hurry Up CNET and do a proper review of this product!!
