"Weebroot needs to pay significantly more attention to its customer support base."
Pros: Versatile product, monitors significant computer/internet activity and does it well.
Cons: No support from Webroot if things go wrong.
Summary: Webroots Spy Sweeper is one of a number of products from this company I have tried over the years with varying success. Purchase over the internet is a confusing process and it is easy to pay twice for the product by clicking one too many boxes especially when purchasing a software bundle (like I did). If you do make the same mistake then say good bye to your hard earned dollars because after sending six emails in a month, I did not receive a single reply which indicates a significant lack of integrity on the part of Webroot! So if you intend to purchase over the internet, be very careful!! Installation is simple process and all went well, I have installed a number of Webroot products over time including Window Washer without any notable problems. Once installed, Spy Sweeper is quite versatile in its scope of operation and monitors most incoming and outgoing internet activity. While it is not a replacement for a decent software firewall like Zone Alarm it is a reasonable addition to your internet security. Like all spy ware detectors that I have tried, it does not pick up everything and Spybot seems to detect a few more of the little nasties that were left behind after a Spy Sweeper did its thing. The Spy Sweeper Shield is a good feature and seems to be more effective than Microsoft?s Spy ware offering which is free at the moment. The Shield menu has a number of click-to-tick options that are easy to understand and operate and seem quite functional. The update functions are also easy to locate and operate which makes keeping the definitions up-to-date a simple process and also a must if the spy ware is to be effective. If you are looking at this product for its speed of operation, then keep looking as it is rather slow and I would not suggest using the automated daily sweep function unless you are already retired and have nothing better to do than enjoy watching the files rotate on your screen. However to be fair, while there are faster products available it might be a case of sacrificing effectiveness for the speed to do the job. All-in-all, Webroot Spy Sweeper is reasonable products that adds to the myriad of spy ware programs already available, but be warned, regardless of its effectiveness, don?t expect any after sales support from Webroot
