"perpare yourself for crashes, hangs, and a frozen computer"
Pros: there are none
Cons: crashes, hangs, and freezing; you'll have to manually turn off your computer
Summary: I can't say anything positive about this product because I wasn't able to use it. After having downloaded and installed Spy Sweeper, I had to reboot my computer only to have my computer hang and applications freeze on boot up. Now, I couldn't even shutdown my computer and Ctrl + Alt + Delete wouldn't work. I manually had to turn off my computer without the proper shutdown process. Once, I uninstalled Spy Sweeper everything was back to normal, my computer booted up without hanging and without applications freezing.

I don't have Vista, however I decided to uninstall Spy Sweeper for the same reasons you have listed. No need to use a piece of software that hang your system!!!

This is the best spyware app out there. It is definitely not causing your problems. It is most likely your PC (or laptop) that is giving you issues.

I had the same lockup problem. Try starting Spysweeper; click the "Home" button on the top left. While holding down the ctrl and alt keys at the same time, double click the left mouse button right on the black "Spysweeper" lettering at the top. (to the right of the home button.) A menu will appear. Click on "turn SPS off." That should solve the lockup problem. I got this solution from their tech support.
I'm far from satisfied with this program and have had numerous problems with it. Currently, it is erroneously flagging my Greenborder directory as a rootkit. I reported it to tech support and was told to send the complaint through the programs "report spyware" feature (which doesn't make any sense to me.) Last time I used the report spyware feature, nobody responded to my report. On several occasions, Spybot Search and Destroy picked up spyware that this program missed.
I don't trust that the organizations which gave this program a good review are unbiased. -
I've used this product for the past year without a hitch; The new version, just released, did to my computer, what your version did to yours. I shut down the program and have no problem. It ate 95% of my virtual memory. I DO have a problem with the knee-jerk reaction that it's my computers fault. It's not. As it stands now, I would say DO NOT get this product at this time until somebody gets off their butt and reviews the program for a fix. (Right)

There were many times this program caused a complete freeze of my system. Running a new system, certainly not the computer. During sweeps CPU ran consistenly @99%. Kept trying to write itslef to the start-up and when this was blocked by firewall, it caused a total system lock up.
Total scan time on my comp was nearly 2 hours. Far too slow. -
Maybe a good tip is that spysweeper is The #1 rated removal for spyware. according to pc magazine and tech sites trust us it werks.
try checking your system resources. -
with few exceptions there isn't anything more outdated than a Pentium 2 laptop. Have you considered that maybe your computer is either not running enough processing power or maybe you simply need to start with a clean install of windows? I have never had problems with spysweeper and as stated I run the very minimum requirements to even run it. I seriously doubt its spysweeper
