""JUNK" is not a strong enough word."
on by chomolungmaPros NONE WHATSOEVER
Cons There is not enough time and space
Summary For years I have been a very happy Zone Alarm user. Yesterday, I tried to upgrade into ZA 7. I have no other spyware, anti-virus, firewall or similar programs on my PC. My PC is fast and clean. ZA "Blue Screens" (i.e. crashes) my Windows XP Pro. I tried it all - all the fixes on this site, all the fixes on the ZA Forum and all the fixes prescribed by ZA's outrageously priced tech support. Nothing fixes the problem...nothing. 6.5 was slick and worked like a champ. 7 was released WAY too early by a company with the absolute worst customer service and tech support out there. I am appalled by the conversion of a wonderful product into this garbage. I am only slightly more appalled by Cnet's high rating of the product with no mention whatsoever of the Windows crash issue. They clearly didn't research the product very carefully. I will be very cautious before trusting them again. The plethora of folks experiencing the same problems and posting those results in many places makes it clear this is certainly not an unusual problem...and its a big one. One would think Checkpoint would have fixed such an issue immediately. However, I suppose they would rather allow the problems to continue so they can sell their worthless $2.95/minute tech support. I am done with this company and their product. A very big disappointment after being a long-term ZA fan and user. Nonethless, I do not have the time to fool around with this Company or product further. If you want a good, stable product that makes efficient use of resources, offers efficient AND effective service and support and cares about its customers, you will have to look elsewhere. Checkpoint simply does not care about the garbage they now produce.

"I'm disappointed"
on by louiemspPros Good Secuirty Suite specially it is now tied up with KAspersky
Cons Freezes my Windows
Summary I'm really disappointed with ZoneAlarm... I'm previously using ZA 6.5 and have no problem.. After upgrading to Version 7 it seems to worked out well but the time I reboot my PC... The Windows freezes on startup and I can't get to my desktop either.. I end up reinstalling my windows to fix it... Hopefully in the future they will fix these problems as what others have already said. There are so many compatibility issues that has to be fixed.

"SIMPLY THE BEST"
on by cunningferalmindPros Set and forget, firewall & kaspersky engine ranked #1
Cons Doesn't wash my SUV and take clothes to drycleaner
Summary Some of the negative comments are akin to watching the outrage on the faces of rejected American idol contestants. If you're on slow dialup with low Ram why yes thats a shame, maybe try turning some things off while browsing for instance tracking cookies won't come bite you. This program has the best overall protection and ease of use thats available, I've used them all tried them all. You want something that grinds the old cpu try new comodo free, this program has almost hourly kaspersky updates and yes it virus scans the entire computer just try setting the virus scanner to do so. The virus/spyware on-off button couldn't be more convenient compared to messing around with seperate components, I can't say enough good things about this in the space allowed yes I even purchased this after using free version since 1999. Oh yeah I can't see the anti virus update running, can't even tell but if I open the program gee whiz why it updated a half hour ago and I didn't even know it, wonder if anybody has complained about that yet.

Cons Crashes XP media Center 2004
Summary Had Trend Micro PC-Cillin for 2 years - read reviews of new software and bought Zone Alarm. Had nothing but problems (I have had Microsoft computers since 1986) - crashing, hangs, weird behavior - I fooled at length with the settings and finally gave up. Zone Alarm promptly refunded my money within 30 days. I bought the Trend Micro PC-Cillin 2007 and have had few, if any problems. I can't recommend it - sorry!

"Excellent Product"
on by narlymanPros Ease of use
Cons No Antiphishing Toolbar
Summary I have used ZA for years from the onset of their free firewall to Security Suite 7. SS7 did have some bugs when first introduced and believe me I had them all. But with the introduction of Kaspersky antivirus things have gotten much better. For some reason it seems to not work for some but I found that they are usually newbies and don't understand how to use it efficiently. If you had installed other software ie, antivirus antispam make sure you have cleaned all files and then use a Registry Cleaner to remove any entries that maybe interfering with ZA. Also if you downloaded program from the internet some packets can get lost so try downloading again and try reinstalling, just a suggestion. I have used Norton in the past and always had problems with it using to much CPU and memory. Now that ZASS7 is working fine I'm sticking with it and would recommend to anyone. It isn't perfect but what in the world is?
