Summary The Belkin Ultimate Keyboard case has single-handedly raised the bar for iPad keyboard cases. Unlike the majority of "thin" keyboard cases, which only cover the iPad screen, the Belkin Ultimate covers both the front (screen) and back of your iPad, so it REALLY protects the entire device. Despite the fact that it offers full coverage for your iPad, the Belkin Ultimate is super-thin. The iPad in the Belkin Ultimate Keyboard Case is about as thin as the iPad in Apple's basic SmartCase (which doesn't have a keyboard). I've tried several full-coverage iPad keyboard cases, and the Belkin Ultimate seems to be the thinnest one on the market right now. (The only thinner keyboard cases are the ones that only cover the iPad screen). The Belkin Ultimate is somewhat heavier than you might expect for such a thin case, but I think that indicates the high quality of the materials that it's made of. It feels sturdy without being bulky. And it's still lightweight enough to carry your iPad and this case around in one hand for long periods. Even more so because there's a leatherette strip on the back of the case that makes it "grippy" and prevents the smooth aluminum from slipping out of your hand.
Pairing the Belkin Ultimate with my iPad 2 took less then 10 seconds, and so far, its performance has been great. There's virtually no keystroke delay, and there are a number of handy shortcut keys that make this keyboard even more user-friendly.
One of the major advantages of the Belkin Ultimate is that when you want to use your iPad in portrait mode without typing, you can fold the case so that the keyboard sits against the back of the iPad (actually, the back of the rear half of the Belkin Ultimate case), instead of pressing against your fingers. So none of that awkward pressing of the keys on your keyboard when you're reading an e-book on your iPad. Plus, when you fold the keyboard back behind the iPad, it automatically disables the keyboard, further preventing any accidental keystrokes that might result from holding/pressing the keyboard against the back of the iPad.
I highly recommend the Belkin Ultimate Keyboard case. A-plus!
