| The Bottom Line | The Ideazon Merc Gaming Keyboard brings some innovation to the typical game keyboard by creating a separate cluster of game keys in a supposedly easier-to-use layout. We didn't take a shine to the game pad, though, and in general, the Merc's response wasn't as tight as we hoped for. It's cheap though, and its software is powerful. Those features add value, just don't expect the Merc to help you win any Quake tournaments. | The SteelSeries Merc Stealth gaming keyboard updates an already innovative design by adding lights and a USB hub. Though the design may not be for everyone, the Stealth Merc should satisfy gamers who want more than just a unique key layout. | Logitech's $200 G19 Gaming Keyboard boasts a built-in color LCD with exciting capabilities, as well as lots of little improvements over previous models. But with few apps--thus far--that take advantage of the screen in a meaningful way, the G19's potential remains largely untapped. Until the community software effort gets rolling, we can't recommend spending this much on a keyboard that, while flashy, has yet to realize its full potential. | Logitech's revised version of its already distinctive G15 gaming keyboard adds polish and trims some of the fat. Throw in the now-mature user community that churns out lots of homebrew apps for the built-in LCD screen, and we'd recommend this keyboard to any PC gamer as a unique, useful, and customizable input device. | At $125, the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate is a competitively priced mechanical gaming keyboard in its range. We just wish Razer had done more to set this "Ultimate" edition apart from Razer's more affordable standard BlackWidow. |
