I will have had this setup for two years come this Christmas, and have replaced the batteries on my keyboard TWICE. That is insane. I use my computer at least a few hours per day, but the batteries never seem to go out on this.
The batteries on the mouse go out every 2-3 months (which is still amazing, to me), just two AA batteries.
The reception is great, I can use it from across the room with no problem. The only time I have issues with reception is about 3-4 weeks after the "Low Battery" light comes on.
One annoyance I have is that the Logitech software flashes "WARNING: MX600 BATTERY LEVEL CRITICAL" every now and then, with now real way to disable it, other than to shut down the software (at least as far as I've been able to figure out).
The keys are fairly noisy as well. Not horrible, but definitely not quiet keys.
One other quirk that I thought was strange was that this keyboard is LOADED with media buttons; It has My Docs, Pics, Vids, Music, E-Mail, Messenger, Messenger Status, Webcam, Calc, Sleep, Close, Back, Zoom, Mute, Volume, All the Media, Shuffle, Play/Pause, etc., buttons, but there is NO INTERNET BUTTON. Huh? Yeah, it seems completely weird to me that they left that off, but it's not that big of a deal. To be honest, I don't even use the media keys most of the time.
Another nice thing is that it has preprogrammed alternative options for the Function keys. If you use the F Mode, F1-F8 do various functions such as MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Back, Forward, Print, and Save. F9-F12 can be programmed to different functions (I guess you could use these as internet buttons, come to think of it).
I also like the buttons on the mouse. Right now, I have the side-to-side scroll wheel functions set to zoom in and out, the top buttons set to Volume +, Volume -, and Play/Pause, while the side buttons are set to Back and Middleclick.
All in all, I'd highly recommend it, I don't find many electronics that last me this long, most of them either wear out or just die after a while. Can't beat it for the price!
