  • "Almost perfect. Mouse Lags"
    on by dantheman1983

    Pros Comfortable
    Looks good
    Easy to setup
    Keyboard works great

Cons Mouse Lags, i am really pissed at how bad the mouse operates. The lag is annoying especially for a gamer.

Summary 2 stars until the mouse lag problem is fixed. 5 otherwise.

    Updated on Apr 13, 2011

After having the issue with mouse lag I decided to move the bluetooth usb dongle from the rear usb to the USB on the front of my tower pointing twords the area I sit and use the keyboard and mouse the issue has gone away for several days now and hope it stays that way. Anyone else having this issue I would say do what I did or get a USB cable and move the USB BT Dongle to a better location. Another thing to try would be switching to the internal BT if your computer has it. I Give this combo 4 stars now that I got the problem fixed. I would give it 5 stars if it worked back in my bedroom as well.

    Pros Mouse is perfect

    Cons Keyboard is okay

    Summary Mouse:
The mouse fits well in my hand. It is just very ergonomic. It has a nice scroll on it, although i know of higher end Logitech mice with better. I do not recall its number, but it has a continuous scroll, where you can either have the mouse scroll a while with one flick or a typical scroll...unfortunately not on this mouse. It also has a side scroll, where the scroll wheel tilts along with a battery monitor (turns on when low), zoom and search buttons next to the left button, and forward and back buttons on the thumb. However, at work i have a mouse with the forward and back on the side, but it is a cheap worthless mouse and they are too easy to accidentally press. These buttons rest above your thumb so it is hard to accidentally push.

    Keyboard:
I love the keyboards feel, hard to explain but it sits well and is easy to type on. Somebody claimed of no num-locks button, which isnt true, at least on my version. However, i feel that the extensions that are put on the keyboard are sub-par. The multimedia keys work well in Windows, but not in Linux - should not be a problem for most, but for those with Linux don't expect them to work. I believe the work with sum programs but not all. Also they are impossible to see in dim light, but that is to expect. The screen on the keyboard is useless. You can set an alarm, but it is hard to set and not loud at all. There is a clock on it, but not backlit so it is hard to see it in the day, let alone dim light. Plus who uses a clock on a keyboard when your monitor always displays it for you. The screen seems like a waste of battery to me. The side of the keyboard (left) has a couple of nice buttons, like search computer, internet, goto folder, etc. and a "Dynamic Zoom." This isnt a button to zoom in or zoom out, but you place you mouse on the bottom of the bar and move up to scroll in and opposite to scroll out. It is nice but i am a ctrl+wheel kind of guy. There is also a 100% "button." if you put your finger on this spot it will zoom back to 100% with no force downward. However this is a bad design flaw. When i am typing in word i zoom way in due to my high resolution screen. My little finger will accidentally hit this and zoom back to 100. (I dont use my little finger like i am supposed to while typing, i only use it for shift/ctr) So due to some substantial design flaws i do not like the keyboard.

    Wireless:
The wireless receiver is quite large (comparatively). It is approximately 2" out of the USB port, but it has to control a mouse and keyboard, and is not made to be portable, so i dont have complaints. The wireless range is long enough for me and i have not tested it to its extent so i cannot comment on this.

    Battery:
In the 9 months i've had this, i have changed the two double AA batteries in the mouse twice, second time happened last week, and i have not changed the keyboard batteries yet.

  • "a perfected wireless desktop....AT LAST"
    on by cyberbuff

Pros Function, speed and ease of use/installation

    Cons a bit pricey

Summary This a vast improvement from the 5000 series. In addition, the ability to use the MX5500 as a Bluetoth 'Hub' is quite handy and impressive. This is a well thought out, functional and easy to use solution. Now if they could make it a bit less expensive....;)

  • "Hate hate hate this stupid keyboard."
    on by kawana_r

    Pros wireless...
    the mouse
the extra buttons for volume and internet

Cons the keys stick. Have from day one.
batteries don't last. I use rechargeable.
the display does not light up makes calculator button useless.

Summary The only good thing about this key board and mouse I like are the mouse. It has lasted about 3 years and still going. I want to throw the keyboard out the window and run over it several times. The keys are so far apart I feel like spider man trying to type. If you have big fingers it would be great and as long as you don't mind having to press keys more than once to type. or if they get stuck you just have to punch them with your fingers. Oh, as long as you don't need to type anything, your good.

  • "Not worth the price, too many problems."
    on by ysu2

    Pros Mouse ergonomics

    Cons keyboard ergonomics
    software problems
    LCD brightness
    mouse buttons
    mouse resolution too low
button associations are restricted in many ways
    price

Summary Save your money and buy a steelSeries mouse, and a generic keyboard with a gel wrist-rest.

    all the issues:
    keyboard ergonomics is bad
    keyboard angle is too low
software problems (including crashing and losing mouse functionality, had to reboot)
    LCD brightness
    mouse buttons (middle-click too hard)
    mouse resolution too low
button associations are restricted in many ways (eg you can't assign middle-click to the button below the wheel)
