"An essential part of my work-flow."
Pros: The mouse and keyboard are both highly customizable between programs or globally. Both are very comfortable to use for extended periods of time.
Cons: I miss the search engine button that my old MX620 mouse had. However, there is one on the keyboard, so it's still available. Also, for some reason the mouse sensitivity buttons that's there in it's place can only be customized globally.
Summary: As a graphic designer this mouse and keyboard have become an essential part of my work-flow. There's more than enough buttons on the keyboard to customize everything I need. Folders and programs can be set to launch with the touch of a button.
The extra mouse buttons can be further customized to do different things in different programs. For example, in Indesign I use the side buttons to zoom in and out, but in Firefox they're used for page forward and back.
Setpoint, the program used to customize the hardware has been great in Vista. I've been using it for over three years and have had no problems with it.
I really don't have much bad to say about this keyboard and mouse. The fact that the mouse sensitivity button can only be programmed globally is a bit puzzling. All the other mouse buttons can be customized between programs, but not these two. Because of this I wouldn't have minded another button or two on the mouse, but it's really not a deal-breaker.
Updated on Nov 26, 2009I should also mention that for those of use with big hands the large mouse is a plus.
