With this keyboard, Logitech effectively gives you 54 keys to make your own. We say "effectively" because in addition to the standard 104 keys, Logitech gives you 18 extra G keys, along with three profile-switcher buttons that you toggle between three different custom G-key layouts. Those extra keys come at a price, though. The G11 measures 21.5 inches wide by 8.5 inches deep. By way of comparison, Dell's current default keyboard measures 17.5 inches wide by 6.25 inches deep.
The G11 has a few features that have more universal, nongamer appeal. Two old-school USB 1.1 ports on the back let you add peripherals that don't require the extra juice or bandwidth of USB 2.0. We also like the slider that lets you disable the Switch to Windows button common to most modern PC keyboards. It's designed to prevent you from accidentally porting yourself out of a game, but it could also come in handy during day-to-day use. Finally, a set of media control buttons at the top of the G11 work with most common media applications--Windows Media Player, iTunes, WinAmp, and others. The blue backlighting also looks cool and will benefit those who like to play in the dark.
