"A huge step backward" on by scodavis
Pros: Same as the old G15
Cons: 8 Macro keys instead of 18
Summary: This is supposed to be an upgrade from the last G15 keyboard but ends up being a HUGE downgrade because of the lopping off of 10 macro keys. This is supposed to be a gaming keyboard and while I like the LCD screen I'm taking this baby straight back to the store and get a G11. I can live without the lcd screen, I cannot live with 10 less macro keys. What was Logitech thinking?
Duneti, you obviously don't understand what I'm talking about.
Updated on May 4, 2012
ALL of Logitech's keyboards have three setting at the top. 18 X 3 = 54 possible macro keys.
8 X 3 = 24 total macro keys. As I said in my review, this keyboard has far less (30, to be exact) programmable macros by only having EIGHT macro keys TIMES 3 than my current keyboard, a Logitech G510 which has EIGHTEEN keys times the 3 presets.
Math is really important in understanding these things. -
"Great feeling keys and typing is tactile. Useful LCD." on by swordsmax
Pros: Lighted Keys (can be off, low or bright). Downloadable presets for games or manually programmed for personal keystrokes.
Cons: Ok.. How do I turn off these macro keys? Accidentally pressing one launches a barrage of keystroke series which I don't really need sometimes.
Summary: Pretty good keyboard. Feels great typing. 18 keys are plenty for me. But if you need more. Maybe you should think about a Strategic Commander or some other USB programmed left hand controllers.

"Better looking then the original G15" on by mjmercer
Pros: I like the look and the new design
Cons: What were they thinking in reducing the number of "G" keys!
Summary: I will hang on to my original G15 and when it goes bad I hope Logitech has added more "G" keys.Yes you still have 18 keys BUT for quick playing you only have six. Six keys is just not enough and the vertical stacking of the six keys is not ideal Blah!!!
I would recommend you find old stock of the original design. This revision 2 is a big step backwards... -
"Good but a resource hog!" on by yoakem53
Pros: Great macro features, good feel, illuminated keyboard
Cons: The keyboard takes several system processes to power the on screen features each screen takes a separate resource and then the keyboard itself does.
Summary: Great keyboard for the hardcore gamer but not for the occasional weekend gamer

"Don't Count on Custom Macros to Consistantly Work" on by jmesarch
Pros: Backlit Keys, Physical Programmable Macro Keys
USB PortCons: Can't get the Macros to work properly
Summary: I have spent a lot of time with the Logitech G11, G15ver.1 & G15v.2 because I returned my first & 2nd boards because I thought they were defective. It turns out that all these boards and other users have major issues recording/playback Multiple Keystoke Macros. I cannot speak for the preprogrammed macros assigned to games. I am using these macros for use with the TradeStation platform/program.
Th problem is that multiple keystrokes that are recorded into macros, rarely playback the same even half of the time. believe me I really wanted this keyboard's macro feature to work... I have tried everything, from recording with the "On the Fly" button to intensely using the Macro Editor with fine tuned keystroke delays. I am lucky that any 4 to 8 keystroke macro will play back half of the keystrokes half of the time. You never know what outcome you will get, so If a macro doesn't replay completely it will stop halfway through.... so at this point I have to nurse the macro to completion.
If you only need simple 2 Keystoke Keys such as Ctrl+1 or Alt+M then No Problem.
I can't give up on this keyboard because it has 18 physical keys. I need a lot of macro keys, especially after using the newer G-15 that has only 6 macro keys. It was way to complicated switching between the different mode/sets with the M keys (M1,M2,M3 produce 3 sets of 18keys of 54 programable keys on the G11).
I love the Backlighting of the keys, now I don't need to turn on any lights just to use my computer at night, I'm not a typist. The backlighting needs to be brighter even though the light button switches from Off-Low-High keylight.
The Volume Control Knob is not my preference, It's harder to control volume , unlike the knurled scroll knob on the newest G110 board.
I like the USB ports to plug in my corded Mouse.
Another great feature is the "Application key" similates aa Right-Click Mouse press. This helps to access some window/program functions for macro recording.
So my final thoughts are even though the custom multiple key macros will drive you crazy... the G11 keyboards pluses way out weigh the negatives....
Or at least until Microsoft comes out with a board that has a lot of programable keys... maybe they will make a macro work correctly.
