"Once connected - a simple must for PDA users"4.0 starson by rodgilbert
Pros: Versatile, easy to carry, a real WOW factor
Cons: Took so long to get connected - no support
Summary: Clearly this device is not for everyone but for those of us that use our PDAs for work, rest and play then this is a winner. But watch out for compatibility and bluetooth connections. I have an 02 XDA Orbit running WM5 (that is also my Sat Nav, Phone, Diary, DVD player, Radio....) and the keyboard just wouldn't connect - bluetooth could see it but not pair. I also had several other keyboards loaded, Resco, Spb, slimline portable so after a complete backup, did a factory restart (back to the basics) and the VKB paired and worked immediately. I systematically reloaded all my programs (one by one) including Spb Mobile Shell and the VKB is still working well. In the end the only programs I didn't load were the keyboards and it does work without drivers in WM5 - so I'm left with the bland and boring internal keyboard version that comes with the operating system but use transcribe instead when not using this incredible technology - takes but seconds now to connect (turn bluetooth on, turn keyboard on and wait 5 sec when the blue light remains on) and start typing.
Since this took so long I haven't attempted to load any drivers yet so I can play with the adjustments and sensitivity factors but fear there aren't any for my PDA in the list anyway - closest is the Atom Exec but it doesn't like my Windows Vista OS on the laptop.
So perhaps those of you who have had similar problems, I suggest restarting your PDA with manufacturers default and try again - it could be as simple as a software conflict. Hope this helps someone else.
