"Nice printer, fast and easy"
on by moores5Pros ease of use, easy set up
Cons none I can think of
Summary My husband bought this for me this past Christmas. Being an eBay seller, this is great for printing all those mailing labels. Being a thermal printer, it uses no ink like my desktop printer does. Labels are much less expensive, you dont have to print out a page full, as with the desktop printer. No complaints so far.

"Easy to use"
on by mikeybooksPros flexible, fast, easy, simple
Cons macros irritating when booting computer
Summary labels average about $.03 each. Easy to set up. First program I've found that lets you clip a barcode from this program and paste it (as a bitmap)into Word. Nice to use computer instead of tiny keyboard as other PTouch. Irritation: it loads macros into all MS Office programs and security warnings go off every time you boot computer and open the applications! Otherwise, I love it.

"Proprietary Labels Required"
on by agilitygsdPros Easy to Use
Cons Proprietary Labels Required
Summary The printer and s/w are easy to use but the problem with this printer is that it requires a totally proprietary label with special spindle and adapter to use.
We custom ordered our labels with our logo on them from our local print shop for use in our DYMO and they worked just fine - we cannot do that with the QL500 because of the design. You are locked into purchasing the Brother brand of labels. If you only need to print the occasional label that's fine (but then if you only need an occasional label you probably don't need a dedicated label printer).
We've long known that the inkjet manufacturers are making their money off of ink cartridges - now we know how they plan to make money off the low cost label printers - the labels.
