One of the best language program I've used.

Pros: Easy to use. Easy to learn.

Cons: The ads give you the implication that learning a language is easy.

Review: Learning a language is hard, and the TV ads will fool you into thinking you can learn a language quickly. This program is best used in conjunction with a language course with a good foundation in grammar. It will prepare you to converse and understand the language. I've gone through level 2 lessons, and it is an excellent review of spanish grammar. It helps you to converse and comprehend spanish very efficiently. Having taken 2 years of college spanish, and spending several months in Ecuador, Guatemala, and Mexico - it has been one of the easiest and most fun way to review conversational spanish and spanish grammar.

To depend on the program alone to teach you spanish is very difficult, but doable. But having at least several years of high school or one year of college spanish is best before attempting to "whip" through this program. The learning is very intuitive and you don't realize you are learning something until you have completed the lesson.

I would say, if you are in beginning spanish, go through the first course two or three times. If you have mastered the tenses of spanish, go through lessons 2 at least once, if not multiple times. It took me about 10 hours to go through lesson 2. I am just beginning lesson 3.

It wears out your brain after about 1 hours. So I would say limit your lessons to 20 to 60 minutes a day.

It really work. It is just hard work.

OK But Learning Spanish Like Crazy is better for useful Spanish

Pros: User Friendly Software, children will also enjoy

Cons: Very basic Spanish. Will not teach you enough to converse with native Spanish speakers

Review: Rosetta Stone is a very basic learning program. It is more for a high school or college student looking to improve her grades than it is for someone that is seeking fluency in the language. Don't be fooled into thinking that you will undertand Spanish speakers after using this software. You still won't be able to understand their Spanish. Because Rosetta Stone only covers a couple of verb tenses. To really converse in Spanish you have to know how to conjugate verbs in many tenses. I consider Rosetta Stone a very basic Spanish course. Gracias to some of the raving reviews I found on the Net about Learning Spanish Like Crazy, I decided to give LSLC a try. I am glad that I did. With Learning Spanish Like Crazy I have learned how to conjugate verbs in almost every verb tense. And Spanish speakers are always complimenting me on my accent. Now I even have the confidence to start learning another language (French.)

Awful Unrewarding Language Learning Software

Pros: Easy to install

Cons: Boring, unvaried, unrewarding, frustrating... the list could go on!

Review: I was told to try out Rosetta Stone by my language teacher. Dont. Its awful. Ok it's easy to install but that is only the best bit. I found it quite boring and the exercises were very unvaried. Also it didnt really give you a chance to memorise the phrases, they only ran through them once. I found it not very rewarding and it made me not want to finish the level. On the typing exercises I found Rosetta quite frustrating. The exercise says the Spanish phrase and you have to write it, in Spanish. However I found it very irritating when , if you did not get it right, it would not tell you what you did wrong and how to change it so you end for very long amouts of time trying to GUESS! the correct answer. I think that this is not a very good language learning software. I have seen much better, rewarding softwares of this type. It is definitely a rip off for the money and so I have heard you have to pay even more money to get to the higher levels.
Absolute rip off, do not buy!!! Shop around first! And if you do decide to get this try out the free version first!
