"Nice drive and nice USB key. Online back up is a joke" on by digitalbayfrog

Pros: The drive looks sleek, the USB key too.

Online back up plan: $50/yr for 250 GB.

Cons: The online back up is not working , so slow that you could go on extended vacation, come back after 7 weeks to see that 10GB of you data has been backed up. What a joke. Use SOS online backup if you need this service.

Summary: If you bought this drive for the online back up, don't bother.

To back up 10GB it would take 0ver 13,000 hours. That's over 50 days!!!

Called online support: "it's expected to be slow online. We have a bandwidth problem we know about." I explained that this does not qualify as "slow." I demanded reimbursement, which they did within 24 hours.

Hitachi needs to stop their BS around online back up. Either they can provide the service, and they should market it. Since they cannot, I would advise consumers to not buy the service, and to not buy the HD either if this is the reason you bought it in the first place.

"Bought today and returning tomorrow. Not happy!" on by barrylgeo

Pros: There are none that I can see.

Cons: Software wants to take over every thing and does it all wrong. What's wrong with letting the users do what they want?

Summary: Very disapointed, will never buy another Hitachi product again.

"A waste of time & money." on by Lintrepid

    Pros: 2 TB for $149.00.

Cons: Incompatible with my Dell wireless internet Connection. Cannot transfer filles over 4 GB, so useless for video editing.

Summary: This device simply will not play nicely with my high-end Dell computer. Delected my WiFi Driver every time I rebooted.
It is impossible be online while using the drive, so it is worthless to me. I want to use the drive to share large project files with teammates, and cannot risk
it damaging others' computers. I am out the price of the device, because the store (Office Max) has a 14 day return policy (and a 15% restocking fee in any case).
Also, cannot remove it from my system if I do return it. Installs 400MB of its own drivers automatically,
which cannot be removed even upon reformatting or running System Restore.

    "abcdefrgtyui" on by DEC405

    Pros: qwertyuiopasd

Cons: I bought one. Easy install. What is it doing? The tutorials answer nothing in the way of how to find ZIP.
The thing backs up when it wants to, even right after I fiddle with an Acronis backup. The help is helpless.
