"Not quite ready for prime time" on by PetePVH
Pros: Plug and play at its best
Does what it says it will.
Constantly working and keeps deleted fiiles for a long time - just in caseCons: Makes all my Office 2007 programs crash -- unexpectedly and at closing.
Summary: The first one started crashing Office 2007. I asked tech support if anyone else was having this problem. After 3 wks (Seagate responded very quickly, delays were mine) and redownloading software and formating the drive, ended up sending it back. During that time Office didn't crash. The replacement worked fine -- but all of a sudden Office started crashing again. They have a great idea, but it just isn't ready for prime time yet. Gott'a bug. (Yup, could be my computer or my Office or my virus protection etc., No way to tell.)

"3 Major Flaws" on by alanflint
Pros: Plug n Play,
Set and forget,
BUT!Cons: 3 Major FLAWS - sofar
Summary: 1) Saps PC performance for up to an hour each day - make PC unusable - no fix available
2) Fails to safely disconnect which leads to drive corruption - the fix is to reformat and software reinstall
3) Drive fills-up with backup and can no longer backup - the fix is to reformat and software reinstall
None of the FLAWS have be address by Seagate as of this posting. Seagate states that #3 can't be fix since its third party software. All of these FLAWS are software related. Seagate continues to merrily sale this crap product as a disaster recover solution that is more of a disaster then a solution!
