    Pros: I could afford it.

Cons: I couldn't afford to get it fixed.

Summary: The worst decision of my life. I should have paid the extra $300 and bought a good quality Toshiba.

After 6 months, this laptop started glitching, then it died every week, needing reboot from disk. Lately it dies every day, also needing reboot. I have almost no productivity. The D: drive has died altogether, due to data corruption.

If I could afford to bin it, I would. Acer is complete rubbish and a total rip off. It has all the lack of quality you'd expect from a Chinese product. The case is flimsy, and it often kills itself when you pick it up. The battery life is a joke, performance of all components is very slow. I tried converting my CDs to CDR, and selling the originals, but the crappy sound quality meant this didn't work. The CDRs sounded awful, full of distortion, and with an echoey, hollow sound.

Video performance is below average, the screen reflects every light source, video is wavy and uneven (screen defects), and I have already had to replace the modem, which failed after only 4 months of use.

This laptop would have been expensive at half the price. It does not deserve shelf space in reputable retailers. Do I just have a lemon, or is a colossal fraud being perpetrated on the public with these pieces of garbage? This is the poorest quality product I have ever bought, of any kind. My brother's Toshiba (he's richer than me) has never caused him any problems.

Dont know what went wrong with yours, but mine is fine. Use it for everything from controls and automation programming (RSlogix, VB and C) to running a webserver at times. It seems solid and runs fast ( faster now that I did away with Norton and started using NOD32). Im not afraid of the Acer name. Im happy with this.

I have had my acer 3100-1718 for 3 months. No hardware problems, no software problems. The case is sturdy enough, but is difficult to keep air vents on bottom clear. (Needed to prevent overheating) Overall I am pleased with the technology for the price. Although, I do admit the screen reflects alot of glare, and I am looking for help on the speed to increase the start up and initial opening of programs.
