"Bring on XP64" on by Samuel K

Pros: Price! 64bit CPU, 1GB RAM, 100GB HDD, DVD Burner

    Cons: No card reader

Summary: I was shopping for the new dual core notebooks from Acer when I caught eye on this one. Apparently, due to the new 5003/4 models, the price on the 5002 is dropping to the mid $800 level. Immediate no-brainer since I am getting the 1GB RAM and 100HDD model!

Wow, am I surprised by the speed and abundance of free RAM on this machine! And the wireless reception is a lot stronger than my old Toshiba. Get one if you still can. Looking forward to XP64 now....!

"Eh....It gets slow..and it overheats and the Ram Is Low" on by DJ-Slaughter

Pros: Its a computer lol. It can get the job done

Cons: It gets slow, the Ram is too low for me, the HDD size is also too low, and it overheats quickly.

Summary: Its a decent computer, only problems I have is that It gets slow, the Ram is too low for me, the HDD size is also too low, and it overheats quickly. Also since im a music producer, I run FL Studios 10 producer edition, I cant use alot of effects and plug-ins for my project or it starts making the CPU usage spike too 100 which makes the songs skip alot. Its frustrating. So its a good starter computer, but I wont keep it for long.

"BEST Bang for Your Buck!" on by smoothchill

Pros: For general computing you simply cannot beat it for the price- Great laptop for K-12 students. XP never crashed, not one error, not one glitch- ever.

Cons: Shared graphics, not dedicated. Ran Corel Video X2 or X12 Pro and it did fine. Ran HalfLife 2 on it with 700 megs of ram. You get the HDD split between C: & D: 30-40 gigs each- pain in the but butt don't reformat just transfer files.

Summary: Final Verdict: BIGGEST bang for 400 bucks on a laptop ever. Very smart buy for k-12 students for the older you get the more processing capacity you'll need. Bought refurbished from Tiger, set it up and hardly ever turned it off and that was in what 2002, 2003. It gave up the ghost yesterday and I replaced it with a Vaio NS300 series. What you *need* to do with this laptop is to set it up to auto run diskcheck upon start up after a bad powerdown. I mean I ran this sucker until it blew it up- turned it off maybe 10 times- the battery was so cooked it would only hold 10 mins of charge. I have had absolutely no problems with this notebook- all three of my XPS notebooks together couldn't get a leg up. Never even had to run critical windows systems files checker. But do your maintenance like clock work. I blew the fan and the NIC in one hour and I knew the chip wouldn't be far behind. This is thing is like a Honda Civic- gives you a good 70-80k miles until all hell breaks loose and when that happens use it for parts! But if you're not going to run system maintenance regularly, expect it to crap out on you within 4-6 months so take care of it and it'll last.

"Great laptop for the price" on

    Pros: Low cost
    Big screen
1 USB Port in the front and 2 on a side.
Access to microphone and headphone in the front.
    Fast enough for the price

Cons: None. For the price it has everything I wanted.

Summary: Never had any problems, it does everything I need it to do, I take it to meeting, done presentations and watch movie and never disapoint me. If I wanted it for games or graphic design I would have purchased a more expensive machine
