"Great netbook notebook!"
Pros: Price. You cannot beat the price with the features provided.
Size. Small enough to be portable, but powerful enough to handle everyday computing needs.
Ease of use. Setup was breeze. Vista runs fine on this machine.Cons: Weird size for a computer screen. With the 16:9 ratio you get less square inches than a 15.4 inch at a 16:10 ratio, and it looks a bit squat. Extra scrolling needed to view web pages or documents as compared to mainstream laptops.
Summary: My wife's HP zv5340 (4yrs old) had a motherboard problem, and it was going to cost $450+ to get a motherboard to replace it. We saw the ad for the Acer and went to BestBuy to check it out. It was perfect. Cost was less than fixing her old laptop, and the Acer had more memory, bigger hardrive, faster processor, etc.. The screen looked smaller than the other 15.4 in screens, but we quickly realized it was because of the 16:9 aspect ratio. Buying experience was great, the sales associate was knowledgeable, and said these computers were flying off the shelf.
Got it home, and the setup was a breeze. It found my wireless network, and getting on the internet was simple. My wife loves it. She has carried it around for the last few days, and keeps thanking me for finding it for her. Most of her tasks are budgeting, word processing, spreadsheets, email, digital photos, etc., so it was a great buy for her. So far, no issues with excessive heat, but lots of crapware. I recommend removing all of it.
Price and purchase was so good, I am thinking about getting another one for my 15yr old son, instead of standing in line for 5-7hrs on Black Friday to get the $299 laptop deals that probably don?t measure up to this one.
