"Beautiful visual, sound and capacity" on by geebee3
Pros: Screen display, sound and ease of use
Cons: Service is limited
Summary: Over all, once you use this machine you will not want to go back to a "typical" laptop, unless you are flying with it, the Acer 9800 not really portable. If you are just working on it there is a luxury element that spoils you quickly. I have tried to use my Dell and HP laptops since I got the Acer 9800 and they seem like a joke. But if I am going out the door to catch a plane the dv8000 HP is coming with me. If I need to impress clients, and there is enough room where I am going, the Acer 9800 is my choice even though a suit case is needed to bring it along. Playing a DVD there is no comparison between the others, the Acer 9800 is far better.
I work with it and do not play games or multimedia much so it is a luxury that many can not afford, but if you can you will not regret it! I work in CAD and Adobe and with fine legal print, so seeing the total document in print that does not strain my eyes makes it worth what ever extra I paid. Listening to quality sounding music while I work is another reward. Yes, you could do better with a desktop $ wise, but if you do move around in your car alot, like I do, it is worth the portability, as limited as that is. Over all I am very pleased. -
"Dont review products you don't own." on by tigert55
Pros: Super fast, great screen depth and resolution
Cons: Should have had a case with it.
Summary: I deployed to Iraq with my Behemoth. I absolutely love it. I marvel at people who hear about the weight and are dismissive. This is my desktop here in Iraq. From watching movies to playing games, to instant messenger, I have yet to be disappointed. The only problem I have had is the reomte control is broken. I dont know it I did it or if it was broken at delivery. The main review said the game performance was bad. Nonsense. I play City of Heroes/Villains and it has not missed a beat. F.E.A.R., Civ4 and Oblivion also attest and bow before the power of Behemoth. seriously, I have had no problems playing them on the highest settings. I wish the manual gave more details about what all the various options. It will be months before I can figure out and take advantage of all the features. I took off one point for the weak manuals and the broken remote. Otherwise this product is a ten.

"I love my acer 9800. Big Beautiful and Fast" on by mdeeter
Pros: Big Screen, Hard Drive Space, Multiple Inputs, Bluetooth, Big Screen.
Cons: Weight (15 lbs), Battery Life, Hard Drive Space
Summary: I replaced my desktop computer at the begining of 2007 with the new Acer 9800 Aspire. I'm so glad I did.
I do a lot of graphic editing and web design and the 21" screen is awesome... very clear and crisp. It's a bit heavy to have on your lap, but it's mobility more than makes up for that. It's fast enough to run all of the applications I need (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Office, etc...) I don't game much, so I'm not sure of it's 3D power, but the video on it is great.
I use a MicroSoft bluetooth wireless mouse - it works perfectly with the bluetooth in the laptop -- yeah, no dongles!
It has more than enough USB ports, along with Firewire and an SD slot.
The hard drive is bigger than most laptop hard drives (200GB total) which is nice... but I can never have enough hard drive space.
Did I mention that the screen is BEAUTIFUL!?
The worst thing about it is that it's really too big to take out of the house... I've done it twice in the 18 months that I've owned it. I still can't find a bag or case that it will fit in... but I'm not sure if I would take it out much even if I did find one.
It's a great computer and I've never had any problems with it... running Vista just fine. All software is great.
I give it 4 of 5 stars mostly because its (im)mobility and weight. The 20" screen almost makes it a 5/5. -
"ACER CUSTOMER SERVICE IS BAD" on by tupena
Pros: NOTHING GOOD TO SAY ABOUT THEM
Cons: BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE--WEB SITE IS NOT USER FRIENDLY
Summary: COMPUTER WAS SENT IN IN APRIL 2007 AND WAS MISPLACED AND SENT TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER.
AUGUST 2007 COMPUTER WAS AGAIN SENT IN FOR REPAIRS AND WAS MISPLACED BECAUSE OF MISINFORMATION THEY HAD AND DID NOT SHARE WITH US ABOUT THE MIXUP IN APRIL. TWO MONTHS LATER COMPUTER HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND I AM TIRED OF HEARING LIP SERVICE. LAST REP I TALKED TO ACTUALLY HUNG UP ON ME WHEN I ASKED WHERE WAS MY LAPTOP. I AM BEGINNING TO THINK THAT THEY HAVE LOST IT AND I WILL NOT BE REEIMBURSED FOR IT.
