"Hate this computer" on by LuluBee06
Pros: Nice sized screen, and the 10-key pad on a laptop was a nice feature.
Cons: The dysfunctional touch pad, lack of webcam (even though best buy swore up and down it came equipped with one), horrible speakers, and just about everything else about the computer.
Summary: I bought this computer because I though since I wasn't a gamer that this computer could fully function for just accessing the internet and creating documents. I was wrong. The touchpad just decides to stop working at random points in time, usually in the situations when I cannot use my usb mouse. I attempted to install a usb webcam and the program was apparently just too much for the computer to process because it locked up and stopped responding all together, every time I attempted to use it. I tried watching videos and couldn't do so without a pair of headphones because the speaker quality is awful. I've had the hardest time transferring files to my mp3 player because the computer just cannot handle it. All in all, I wouldn't even buy this computer for a kid.

"A good machine if you look for higher spec' versions..." on by eogin21
Pros: Looks; fast start up with Win' 7; full size keyboard; good amount of RAM, HDD capacity and auto connect to available wi-fi network...
Cons: No mic' on webcam
Summary: Editors review is wrongly off putting as my version of this machine (UK spec') has dual core Athlon 64 x2 processor plus 4GB of RAM, 320GB HDD and does have a webcam (but no mic'); check your model specifications and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Good value and does all that you want for a home use machine.

"Great for the money" on by Rockinmohokin
Pros: Does the normal things a student/teenager needs to do.
Cons: No web cam. No big deal. I have a USB cam if needed. It would also be nice if it had a way to send video out to a TV (even just a composite or S-video) so it could be used as a DVD player.
Summary: You cannot consider evaluating this computer without recognizing the price.
As a gamer, it runs Sims3 fine. I bought this computer for my daughter and she is not much of a gamer so I do not know how it would do on tough games.
It surfs the Web fine and I have been surprised at the wireless speed and distance to my G router.
When my wife and I went to Best Buy to purchase a laptop, I wanted to spend more. I said that I did not want to buy a product that was obsolete when it was taken out of the box. She picked this out and asked me what was wrong with it. It ran on Windows 7 (an absolute must), had sufficient memory and was not a dinky net book. It has a separate numeric keypad. My main reservation was the processor, but for what my daughter would be doing, it has been fine. She is not into video editing or 3D gaming.
Overall I have been pleasantly surprised with this laptop. I am not crazy about the touchpad location but my daughter has not express any desire for a mouse so the touch pad must be something that a person can get used to. It seems to have grown to her lap since it was opened and I do not get to use it much.
Overall, very satisfied. -
"This is the worst laptop!" on by dissatisfiedaceruser
Pros: Light, cheap, thats it because this product severely disappointed me.
Cons: where do I begin!
1. Within a month of purchasing this laptop one of the USB ports stopped working.
2. I bought this in March and by June the factory cord stopped working so I bought a new one.Summary: Cons Cont.
3. A month or so ago, the 2nd USB port stopped working, so I called Acer and if the USBs look like I broke them they want me to pay 299$ PER port.
Total cost of this peice of crap: 850$!!
DONOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
"Why I will never buy Acer again" on by angelo454
Pros: Don't know since I don't own this model
Cons: Poor warranty service
Summary: While still under warranty, I sent in my Acer Aspire 6930 laptop to repair an audio issue, which did not impact computer operation. The laptop was returned but audio issue was not fixed. Returned laptop for repair a 2nd time and it came back with obvious physical damage (keyboard bulging and speaker grill pressed in), buttons not working and USB ports inoperative. Returned laptop for a 3rd repair and it came back with previous problems fixed (except for speaker grill) but the unit started locking up during use and eventually would not operate at all. Returned laptop for a 4th repair and it came back but now would lock up and randomly reboot frequently making the laptop unusable. Laptop was in new condition and operational, but for the audio problem when 1st sent for repair. After 5 months of failed repairs, requested a full refund but was refused and it still is not repaired and Acer is indifferent to the issue.
