"Great little machine that does everything I want." on by tonythedamb

Pros: Screen is marvelous, permitting web browsing with no real difficulty at all; runs all kinds of sofftware; has excellent accessory design with 3 USB, mike, earphones, speakers (minimal), lots more; works great on wireless networksl

Cons: Keyboard is good size but does not feel right (takes time to get used to); mouse-pad hard to control; must use a real mouse; MUST buy/install a 2Gb memory card to achieve acceptable processing speed (cost me $40, delivered). Played video just fine.

Summary: AOK is my summary in a nutshell. I have been determnined to write a review since I first got the machine, as I was irritated by ALL the professional reviews I saw being essentially negative, grudgingly saying some good things, but essentially writing this mnachine off as a poor choice.

I am not a gamer ... if I was, this machine would not be for me. What I want is to browse the Web; to send/receive emails; to operate using Windows XP; to run any and all of my programs, including old DOS ones, graphics sofftware, recording software, capture/play video.

I have done all the above except I've not recorded video. This machine seems to run everything I throw at it. Slow ... well, not fast, but fast enough for me. Here's a list of some programs I'm currently using:
    Firefox browser
    MSIE browser
    Corel 12 Graphics Suite
    Open Office (latest version) Suite
    Avira AntiVirus software
LapLink (an excellent synching program, over cable/wireless/you-name-it)
America Online (my ISP from home, where I've no high speed available)
Nero 7 Suite (I plug a CD/DVD in via USB)
And a plethora of support accessory programs that help me out.

I have had the Open Office Power Point fail (with the BSOD, sadly) when trying to do slide shows ... however, I've not used that option before with the latest OO version, and am not at all certain this is not an OO problem, rather than a computer-related one).

So, my suggestion ... If you're looking for a light, handsome, truly inexpensive, versatile, long-battery-life netbook, with a top-notch screen, then you can't go wrong with this one. I got it for $379 (delivered).
