"Extremely useable as a netbook."
Pros: Great battery life.
Excellent screen and keyboard.Cons: Two separate mouse buttons would have been preferable.
Summary: Although I've read the reviews with complaints about the performance of this netbook, I think its very useable when configured with Windows XP and 2 GB of ram. I think it was a big mistake for Acer to include Vista in the configurations since it requires more processing power. Based on the hardware that is allowed for the netbook specification, the slower processor was used as a trade off for a nice display and good battery life. Personally I think its worth the trade off for the bigger display and keyboard, as it allows this hardware to be used for longer periods of time. As always, there will be something bigger and better in 6 to 9 months. Netbooks running Windows 7 are certain to come in this form factor (or better) and will be quite popular so if you are willing to wait a while for that, its a good path to follow. The XP/ 2GB / 250 GB harddrive configuration is over $400. You get what you pay for with this one. I've heard of people installing windows 7 on this system, and I have heard there will be versions stripped down for netbook use, so I wouldn't be too afraid about buying now.
Updated on Sep 29, 2009Ok I've had this netbook since early July and I have to add bad news. I started experiencing random system freezes. I've since learned many other users are experiencing these also. My netbook has now been to Acer twice for repair and I can say I'm VERY unhappy with the customer support. I cannot recommend this product at all.
I do not believe my experience with freezes or customer support are isolated incidents after reading other user complaints on http://www.aspireoneuser.com/forum/.

Thanks! Latest posts there describe a solution:
"I don't have frequent lockups anymore and I stated this earlier in my posts. install the bios 3210, latest Intel GGMA 500 drivers and Realtek HD Audio drivers."
Realtek drivers said to be particularly important:
