Pros: The size and feel of the machine is solid, and the battery gets close to 6 to 7 hours.
Cons: Continual program failure. I've tried to chalk it up to Vista issues but other machine's I've had with Vista do not fail nearly as badly as this one does. Continual freezes, programs not responding, and crazy things happening with drives & monitor.
Summary: I called to get support from Acer and only found they could offer me an extended warranty or a disk to reinstall the operating system that was faulty from the beginning. Outside of that not much in terms of product support. I was excited about this model and its cost with such specs, but feel like I'm getting what I paid for. Would not recommend.

Pros: Performed very well with light occasional use long battery life - does what it says on the tin but not for long.
Cons: Screen stopped working just outside of 1 year warranty power supply also failed.
Summary: Like many others here faced with an estimated £100 repair bill just outside of warranty for a replacement screen. I have owned and used about 10 laptops ranging from a couple of years to six years and have never had a breakdown. This one has failed twice in 14 months. not up to even light use - keep well clear!

Cons: ACER TECH SUPPORT will deny any warranty service in first year. Evidence by ACER TECH and TIGER DIRECT emails.
Summary: ACER TECH SUPPORT will deny any warranty service in first year. All comments supported in evidence by ACER TECH SUPPORT emails, and TIGER DIRECT emails. On your first call to ACER for help, you put in serial number, ACER computerized phone voice, will state your warranty has expired, direct you to other department to pay $199 for their depot repair, and then hang up on you. ANY more calls to other ACER phone numbers, their computerized phone system will remember you called, and hang up. You will not get a person to talk to...till you call the other department, give your creditcard information, so they can bill you by the minute. Or you can go through ACER email...ACER TECH SUPPORT will have you put in serial number, deny warranty, stating warranty has expired..( It is not one (1) year old in fact) ....even though you bought it from TIGER DIRECT, even with TIGER DIRECT sending ACER ..Proof OF Purchase. ACER will not honor warranty. You are left to pay them...or pay your local shop to repair it! It will not matter that you have extended warranty. YOU will not get what YOU pay for from ACER. Buy something else! In my opinion, the false and systematic denial of warranty by ACER, is outright fraud. This lack of service in the first year of warranty fits any STATES definition of deceptive trade practice...on several counts. BE A BETTER SHOPPER Check ACER out yourself.
IMO, Buy it only if you can afford to throw it away. If not buy something else. -

Display flickers in low brightSummary: This is a nice machine for those that are always on-the-go. The battery lasts as advertised in light use( web browsing, e-mails, im, office suit) and it lasts for almost 5hrs on full screen video (mkv format, 720p) what is impressive. The graphics subsystem handles the vista/win 7 aero interface quite well, it's fast and responsive, but don't expect to run 3d intensive apps on it. The display is bright and crisp, with a surprising low glare, but the view angles are narrow and it flickers a little in any other brightness setting besides the max. In the audio quesit the onboard speakers has almost no bass and the volume is rather low. Headphones is a must have if you want to listen to music or to watch a movie in this laptop.

I HAVE UP MY EEEPC -100HE AND THE HP2133 AND THE 900HA FOR THIS LAPTOP. YES ITS BIGGER AND LITTLE MORE WEIGHT BUT FOR THE PRICE AND WHAT YOU GET IN POWER AND PERFORMANCE ITS WORTH THE UPGRADE.
