"Not a good design"
Pros: slim and light
Cons: not ergonomic
Summary: Reasonable machine. Application performance is low. screen works fine only with 1280x800 resolution. Some fonts don't work fine and shown greyed. Ergonomically terrible. I use an external mouse and I am right-handed. However it is very difficult to use external mouse with this laptop since 2 USB interfaces, 1 ethernet interface, 1 modem interface and 1 PCMCIA slot has been located at right-front location where I keep my maouse. There is no room for mause to move especially when connected to network. Normallly ethernet connection should be at back side. Keyboard layout is not good. Some keys are too small especially del key. It is possible to enter shift+del in stead of shift+home. Especially del key has been placed at the worst location one can imagine. Arrow keys are too smal and there exist $ nd ? lettes next to arrow keys. When editing, page gets filled with $ and ? letters if you move around. Moderate performance and sometimes get too slow. Annoying sounbd comes from hard disk time to time like water dropping somewhere. Overall not too bad. Light and slim that's the biggest advantage I guess. Power adaptor is also light and small. It has no serial, parallel, 1394, etc interface. DVD RW is good. 802.11b/g also works fine. It has good sound equalizer capabilities. It is 2 weeks old so I cannot tell if it manages to live long or not. This was my company's choice since it was cheap but I would prefer a dell inspiron 6000 in stead. There are certainly better machines but if you want to save £ 50 then you may consider this laptop. Not sure if it worths though.
