"CNET Award somewhat undeserved"2.0 starson by sonny-zulfikar
Pros: A few techical improvements over the previous model
Cons: Serious connectivity and display quality issues. The new touchpad
Summary: I submitted the following review yesterday but, for some reason, it has never appeared amongst the posted ones.
Let me say that I just don't think that most of the design decisions Apple made while working on this product are steps in the right direction. There is the screen issue. There is the connectivity issue. I would especially stress the fact of Apple's deliberate omission of any kind of a regular video connector on this notebook. This is flat-out extortion, it is infuriating and simply petty. Another gripe of mine is that my palms (and my fingers, too) sweat a little bit. This does not normally create any problem for me, but any precise tracking on the touchpad of this particular notebook was next to impossible for me.
On a separate note, I'd daresay that the CNET Editor's Choice award was given to this new Macbook with somewhat undue haste. The notobook was honoured with the award literally days after its release. As of the time of writing this post, it has garnered only 2.5 stars out of a hefty number of reviews, which is no reason for celebration. Most of the latter are junk, of course, being either mud-slinging or childish bragging. Yet those infrequently moderate reviewers do not see to be jumping of joy. I believe therefore that CNET reviewers ought to be a little more deliberative in their award decision.
