"Bad timing"
2.0 starson by talmyPros: Very study construction, OS X, gestures on touch pad, backlit keyboard on high-end model
Cons: Price increase in bad economic times, cannot drive composite video or SVIDEO, no FIrewire, even glossier display than before
Summary: No, I didn't buy it but still feel like I should be able to review it. Unlike the MacBook and iBook I own (as well as maintaining three iMacs), this one would not meet my needs. And in these bad economic times, with dropping PC prices, what are they doing increasing the starting price by $200? Video adapters are 50% more expensive, and educational discounts have been cut as well.
New version out now has improved performance, lower price, and FIreWire is back. Not in the local store yet, but it's a very good chance I'll buy.

Real23,
Why waste time writing up wimpy responses to the negatives? Like, "you don't... you cannot..." Boring, man, boring and unproductive. Just do what other fanboys do: create another nick for yourself (may I suggest 'Liar32'?) and write another happy customer review for the MacBook. Tell everybody to run to the Apple store and buy it. Tell them to buy even more Apple products because those are mmm so good! -
If only people who have purchased the product are allowed to review it, it would skew the reviews higher. I went to the Apple store and tried it out. My review would not have been better if I shelled out $1600 for it. It is very nice, but I'm not trading in my white MacBook for it.

I for one, being a (new) potential buyer certainly appreciate ALL thoughtful, respectful reviews. To me, Amazon is a GREAT place to get info on all kinds of products from thoughtful people (so I don't think we should be too hasty to judge others. It's hard to tell sometimes who might benefit from our sharing). THANKS

You didn't buy it, so you shouldn't be able to review the product. Doesn't that make more sense? I think so.
