"Love it, but generates a lot of heat!!"4.0 starson by glvnet
Pros: Well designed, Great performance, MAC & XP, 64 bit ready, etc...
Cons: No media card reader and a big one is that it generates a lot of heat very quickly.
Summary: Overall I love this laptop. This is my second MAC after buying the iMac for my wife a week ago. I have to say that overall this is the best laptop I have owned to date. I am Microsoft certified on several windows flavors and I finally decided to switch to MAC. MAC OS X is excellent - it just works -. I installed Neoffice, thunderbird, firefox and yes Microsoft office and it is beatiful how well it performs. This is a 15.4 display laptop, but is incredibly mobile since its design fits in a 1 inch frame. I love the keyboard with built in backlight since I write a lot in complete darkness. The speakers are well located and provide adequate sound. Front row and the IR remote are nice features when you connect the laptop to an HDTV and show your family your videos and photos on a big screen. Finally, MacBook pro has firewire 800. This Mac does generates a lot of heat but as long as you keep it in a flat surface you won't have issues.
By the way, CNET says that compare to pc brands the Mac was more expensive. Not true, I compared mine with sony, HP and MacBook Pro was cheaper by almost $500. Dell was a little cheaper than Mac, but it had a weaker video adapter. Just for the fact that this machine is well designed and runs MAC which is a joy the laptop is worth the money...now you add that it can also run XP and Vista natively...it actually becomes a bargain for that price. You get it all in one unit.
Buy it and enjoy it!!
Mine was the 2.33 Core 2 duo with 2 gig ram, 120 hard disk, 256 MB ATI X1600 and the glossy display.
