Pros: It do have update new CPU and new graphic card.

    Cons: -appearance doesn't change
    -still heavy for daily use
    -price is disapoiting

Summary: The new processor and graphic does make a difference in every day computing, however, I am amazed that apple didn't take advantage of its design team. Take a look back, iphone 3gs is no difference in appearance from iphone 3g, ipad looks identical to ipod except the size and this time new macbook pro changes nothing, every single inch is identical to the former macbook pro. Apple fans such as me are so disappointed that apple is no longer the "apple" famous for sleek design but "apple" just cost you double for its "brand" !!!

I am an apple and windows user, and i prefer apples user interface but have to have a windows computer for business. apple computers are more expensive and its not necessarily that they last longer or are better made but it is just apple manipulating the fact that they have a different user interface and some people are willing to pay the premium for their user interface. i am one of those people but i understand that i am paying for the operating system, NOT BETTER COMPONENTS. look at the HP ENVY 14 for example, they have just as good of build quality and better specs AND have to pay microsoft to put windows in their computers yet the ENVY is far less expensive.

The design is great. No need to fix what doesn't need fixing. Besides, this design has only been around for... what, a year and a half? I don't expect any company to completely remodel the design of their computers every year.

iPads do not look identical to iPods.

This IS a sleek design, BTW, genius. It's the best on the market. You can't change it much at all, and almost any change possible would be worthless.

By the way, since when was 5.5 pounds in a high-end 15" laptop heavy? My 15" PC weighs 7 pounds and has one third of the speed!

Get outside and do something active, this laptop is no where near heavy. I can move this laptop around with one hand and not once be worried that i may drop it.

This isn't a new generation product, and seriously a complaint about keeping the unibody aesthetic is really really weak. How long did the pre-unibody Macbook Pro stay the same since the move from PPC chips?

Also, heavy? Find a comparable PC from HP, Dell, Acer, Alienware (especially Alienware) et al and compare the weight. What a BS "review".

You mean $2,199. Is their a PC in this configuration priced lower? No. Your math does not work.

This is clearly a reviewer who has not experienced having a MacBook Pro run for days, even weeks with NO crashes, interruptions or Windows 'terrors'. I switched to Mac in November, 2009 and am so happy I did - paying a few bucks more is well worth the premium for a solid, fast laptop that actually works!

THIS PERSON DOES NOT OWN A MAC. This is not a review of the entire Apple corp. so please stop referencing other products in the review. Have you even seen the benchmark tests for the new chips? Well then you would see that it IS faster in every way and for "everyday computing" (whatever that means). Don't just bash a products without using it. Don't write a review without owning the product.

I agree is a little $$$ but to give it 1 star for the price issue is wrong. This computer will last 2-3 longer more then a PC with an average shelf life of 7-8 years. In the long run, it is cheaper then a PC that will last a few years.

Apple "fans" just like you can try to understand that sometimes a great design doesn't need to be changed just to make some cosmetic adjustments. It just works, and for now it's as good as it gets compared to all else available on the market, so they can stick with a proven exterior. The inside is a totally different issue, as it was thoroughly improved.

I agree completely, i've been waiting to purchase a macbook pro and i'm very disappointed! Apple needs to at least add a discrete graphics card into the entry level macbook pro.... whats up with all these stupid "integrated" cards?! Seems like you're just paying for the "apple" brand name and not the actual computer or specs:(

This will be my first ever Mac and should be arriving in a few days, but your review sort of baffles me. I am not sure how this is "still heavy for daily use" at 5.5 lbs for the 15" model. Also, are they supposed to do a full design overhaul with each iteration of the machine? Is the design on this one somehow no longer sleek? Honestly, I am looking at other notebooks out there and I cannot understand how much "sleeker" it would be without completely sacrificing any meaningful computing power.

I bought mine back in fall of 2008 and it's still the best looking machine out there. In fact it's funny to see MS box manufacturers "falling all over themselves" trying to make their plastic laptops look like this machine. It's still a sleek looking product and has lost none of it's visual or performance appeal. I like the update to the CPU and graphics processors of the new release, but don't need to update right now. My MBP still does everything I need it to extremely well.

I TOTALLY agree, I'm looking for a laptop for college and I was interested in this, I was shocked at how high the starting price was and how expensive it is to upgrade parts. I'm bored of the bland styling which was stylish when it first came out, I'm looking a Sony or Lenovo laptop since I can get similar configurations with a HELL of a cheaper price!

Are Apple's competitors outsourcing false reviews by non-purchasing illiterates again?
