"Peppy update..."
3.0 starson by rwindmannPros: Zippy processor, that's about it.
Cons: No real redesign, just a spec bump. Very high price.
Summary: I bought this on launch day. I put side-by-side with my 2010 15" MacBook Pro with 8 gigs of RAM and a Seagate hybrid SSD drive, and I honestly could not tell the difference. So I returned it. Even though it is the best damn laptop in the world, it's just a minor spec bump from he last model... Thunderbolt? Oh, yeah, there are plenty of Thunderbolt devices out there! Whatever.

I agree. I put this new Macbook next to my 2010 i5 Macbook and the speed difference was negligible. Both computers ran fast, multitasked fine, and pretty much held their own against each other. So I kept the 2010 Macbook and best of all, $2000 extra dollars in my pocket. When Apple comes out with the new design next year, I may jump back in and buy a new Macbook. But for now, my 2010 Macbook suits me just fine.

"I honestly could not tell the difference" Care to elaborate... doing what type of operations? Of course there's a difference between seeing little or no speed improvements and deciding it's worth replacing a relatively new (vs. antique) MBP.
