"One expensive little laptop"
Pros: Mac software, ease of use
Cons: 12" monitor too small for image editing, expensive, battery life not the best
Summary: I've owned my PowerBook G4 since January of 2006, and while I have enjoyed it for the most part, I have run into a couple rather large "bumps" in the road. After a user-related mishap I had to have the drive repaired, backed up and replaced. Unfortunately, I was not aware that this would cost more than scrapping the PowerBook and buying a brand new laptop. Of course, this is entirely my fault, but the repairs did set me back about $2000 and a month without a computer. This past summer, the computer just...stopped working. Not a common complaint with Macs, or so I'd heard. Buying a new HD for less than $200 and having a friend do the back-ups, the laptop was like new (aside from cosmetic traits I'd caused to it) in a relatively short period of time. Now there are a few screws missing, and a couple keys have popped off but these are, again, user-caused. But replacing the drive for no good reason other than the computer stopped working after a year--that was disappointing. Another thing that I dislike is in the size, which I should have researched more completely before settling on. Apps like Aperture do not work on the 12" version of the PowerBook because the resolution isn't high enough on the screen. This laptop has taken a beating and I'd choose another Mac over another IBM ANYDAY!!! Just do your research before buying one.
