"attractive design, easy 2 gb upgrade, amazingly fast"

by magisto on July 5, 2009

Pros: the design and weight are excellent, long battery life, and simple to upgrade to 2 gb, has everything I wanted in a netbook

Cons: in the 3 days I have used it no problems other than getting used to a slightly smaller keyboard

Summary: I have had many laptop computers but have always thought that netbooks were very limited. I have been pleasantly surprised by the functionality of this netbook. The size, design, battery life, and other features of this little machine makes it a slamdunk.

There is no real point in buying ram that is faster than the bus speed. If you put 800MHz ram in a 667MHz bus it can only run at 667MHz. Despite what your mistaken techie instinct tells you it doesn't make any difference. The limit of the hardware is the slowest speed.

The only possible reason I can think of not to upgrade with a 800mhz RAM is because the N280 CPU is 667mhz. That said, would you get the faster bus speed of the 800 with a processor that goes 667?
And yes RAM / memory upgrade is just as it is in any other laptop.

Do you think that @GB is necessary? Also when you say "simple to upgrad", do you mean open the back and slip in the memory?

    Thanks

Why would you recommend the 667 mhz when 800mhz is only $2 more? Get the 800mhz as I did and this thing flys

I didnt think you were able to expand the memory. Do you do it just like any other laptop?
