"Nice for a NETBOOK" on by ektelonman
Pros: For a Netbook, it really does all that it should be doing. Surfing the web, eMails, some word processing,...Good size hard drive and great battery life.
Cons: the factory installed 1GB is barely enough
Summary: Keep in mind that this is a Netbook, and should not be considered as a replacement for a fully functiional laptop or a desktop machine. If you try to compare a netbook with those machines, this machine will come up short everytime with the exception of the lightness and portability, which are the strong reasons why you want a Netbook. For me, this is a great 2nd machine (other than my laptop), that I can carry around the house, on weekend travel when I do not need my fully functional laptop. The 1GB that it came with was quickly swapped out with a 2GB stick (Maximum) and it does make a difference. It was running a little slow with the 1GB stick to the point that I would type faster than it would register. I thought that they keyboard was a little flimsey whereas the keys would vibrate when typing. Even typing lightly seem to cause the noise to happen. It doesn't affect the performance, but the keyboard is cheap and light. Which comes to my next comment, the netbook, as with most, is extremely light and portable. I can carry it everywhere in a protective sleeve (purchased separately) in a backpack or suitcase. The Asus Eee has a boot-up feature that allows you to quickly surf the net, although I have not used it extensively. The battery is big in comparison to the unit, but the charge lasts quite a long time. Great Netbook for the price and I hope that it will last a few years.
