"The Scion of laptops"
Pros: Very portable
Cons: Weird placement of the right shift key
Summary: A few years ago Toyota launched a new brand of vehicles, Scion. The idea was to sell a small, inexpensive, car that had everything you need, plus a little more on the base model. The car was designed to allow owners to easily upgrade and customize them. Asus hit on the same idea with their eee line of laptops.
Out of the box, these small, inexpensive, laptops are very useful. If the owner chooses, he/she can install more memory, upgrade the hard drive, and/or install Windows XP. I haven't upgraded at all. It does what I want it to do without upgrades.
I have to double check my backpack to make sure this laptop is there when I leave to walk to work. It is very light. I can't tell if I packed it.
The size and weight are great. But, I wouldn't use it as much if it didn't work so well. The interface is great. Programs are organized into tabs by category. The integrated web cam works well. Connecting to wireless networks is a snap.
I am very satisfied with this purchase.
