"asus chose wisely for a purposeful subnotebook."
Pros: quick, quiet, cheap. has xp on it already. hacks/mods available to increase performance even more.
Cons: cramped keyboard/screen size. everything else can be tweaked.
Summary: the eee forums has all kinds of hacks and tweaks to overclock the processor to installing mods. the eee has a huge range of potential.
one thing is that after about 30 mins of use, your fingers get a little weary and your eyes strain, even if you tweak the resolution to fit boxes and windows.. but honestly, i can't complain. its a subnotebook for 400 bucks. the hp mininote has been often compared with the eee as an eeekiller, but in the typical HP fashion, hp puts looks over performance. asus was smart to put in an intel cpu with a ssd because when we are talking about computers this small, its usage is hardly meant to be used to do all kinds of extravagant tasks. it is meant to be used in a quick, easy, and an accessible way. the hp mininote uses a hdd and a slower processor..
..slow and more prone to internal damage. now, is that what you really want for a busy individual always on the road or a grab and go type of person like yourself? i think not.
i think asus thought and chose wisely. no wonder its so freaking popular.
