"Sometimes I forget it's a full-fledged computer" on by Sussuaran

Pros: Portability, really good and bright screen, snappy SSD

Cons: There is no way to turn off the mousepad, I accidentally touch it and move the cursor while typing. Larger SSD would have been nice.

Summary: This suits my needs perfectly - I am an interpreter and I work in a cramped booth most of the time. With the EeePC 900 I can load up my vocabulary lists, dictionary programs, presentations, reference material and others. And it's so lightweight that when I travel I even forget it's in my hand luggage. I would have liked a larger SSD, as would everyone else, and would be prepared to pay an additional 100 USD for a total of 30 GB. The touchpad is good, the sound is adequate and the webcam is really good. I definitely recommend it for roadwarriors everywhere.

"Beware, battery drain problem even when switched off" on by Mark92992

    Pros: Otherwise it's great.

Cons: The battery drains by about 10% per day even when switched off. This means that after about 9 days powered off, the battery will be empty. This makes this product almost not fit for use (you need a mains always nearby)

Summary: It woujld be a great machine were if not for the battery drain problem.

"A "Hot" small SSD netbook" on by LincNeb

Pros: Small, it uses Windows XP, Wireless worked very well, and even the "g" mode being slower than "n" it still play streaming video, quite well. Everything worked as advertised. I liked the way the SD card when inserted completely was flush with the side of t

Cons: Probably all of the problems that 900 had/and has is that it runs way to hot, This keeps the fan running a lot and a computer you dare not sit on your lap unless you have a hard back book or sheet of aluminium to put underneath it. I had problems with the

Summary: By the way I have the black one and not a white one, if the color of the case was going to have any effect on it's reliability, I had a chance to have gotten a white one for the same price. However, I'm going to assume case color didn't signify there were any differences in the internal set-up.

When it worked it did what I bought it for, a small unobtrusive electronic book, which on occasion could be used for other things. It had enough memory to do what I needed it to do, Later netbooks are twice as fast, have much more drive space, and use a lot less power.

I had returned to Asus twice under warranty and after it was out of warranty I had a local computer technician look at it (which wasn't free) and confirmed what I suspected I had a motherboard problem. So, it's reliability is not very good.

I suppose what Asus should have told owners of this netbook is that they should run the screen intensity at the lowest level, unless forced to do otherwise, and never. ever defragment the SSD.

Right now I'm using my as low speed desktop, since I have to use an external keyboard for it to function. When something else goes wrong with it, I'll just give it a toss.

So, while I found Asus repair service quite good, what I eventually needed was a complete replacement of the computer. Would I buy something from Asus again? Yes, but even with a brand that has a good reputation, they can come out with lemons on occasion.

"Like a fish, won't hold much" on by jeffreyguy

Pros: Great Screen, big touchpad, long battery life, webcam, Reset button on back

Cons: No cd/drive. VERY SMALL KEYBOARD! Little hard disk space. Won't hold much.

Summary: I bought the eee pc 900 last year and I'm pretty happy with it. I can't really store that many games or any large files on here. It's pretty stylish and is pretty amazing for a 9 inch computer. Great for work, bad for play :(

"my travel friend" on by mrdip

Pros: Size just right for that adjunct second PC. Great as a travel backup but this is not a full scale lap top and does not do as much. Nice finish looks likes an Apple product. Select the pearl- white keyboard makes for easier reading in dim light.

Cons: Linux good system but has very few programs on the web for consumers. Yopu can buy unit with Windows XP, but what happens when Microsoft discntinues XP in late 2009. IE 7 can be upgraded, but most of these units only have 1mg memory.

Summary: Great but only as a second PC ffor on the run work. Linux system option better than running Windows XP which Microsoft will junk in the near future.
