Summary: According to your review of the Macbook Pro 13 inch, it weighs 4.5 pounds. That means the Asus is only 0.3 pounds heavier (less than 5 ounces) and for significantly higher computing power, battery lifetime, AND a removable battery. Does that really count as "heavy?" They're almost identical weights.

1. Faster processor
2. Twice the RAM
3. Better graphics
4. Twice the hard drive space
5. Double the warranty

Pros: powerful, well built, good keyboard, optimus hybrid graphics, looong lasting battery life
$100 less than a 13" macbook which does not have a core i3, or optimus hybrid graphics or comparable battery life. Weighs virtually the same as a macbook.Cons: lost some battery life with the upgrade to the core i3 cpu compared to the UL30, 50 and UL80 series.
Summary: Cmon Ackerman...you go on and on about how much it weighs...As you know, the macbook is virtually the same size and same weight as the U30Jt (4.8kg vs 4.7kg). And guess what? The macbook has a lower screen resolution of 1280 x 800 vs 1366 x 768 offered on the U30Jt. Plus the macbook uses a not so energy efficient core 2 duo cpu and does not get near the battery life OR offer near the performance. In addition,the macbook does not have anything near the optimus hybrid graphics offered on the Asus U30Jt. You mention a lighted keyboard, yes it would be nice, but it's not on the base macbook either. Oh yeah, the warranty on the Asus: 2 years, plus a 1year accidental damage warranty at no additional charge. Got that on your macbook...I don't think so.
Oops typo, I kept referring to it as a U30Jt. It's actually a U30Jc.
And your comparison the the Adamo XPS...they shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence.
Give credit where credit is due. Granted it's not perfect, but machines like the U30Jt and other recent Asus laptops are leading the way in powerful, well built, laptops with great battery life. Everyone else is playing catch-up.

Summary: So all in all i adore this laptop. Kinda wish there were touch volume and play controls above the keyboard and that the keyboard was backlit but it's all good. And i really dont have a problem with the little click pad thing being one piece. It looks good and is still completely practical!
I still can't believe how the review claims that it's a heavy and fat lappy. I think it's perfectly sized. I'm definitely not what one would consider strong and i feel completely confident carrying it open with one hand :) I mean thinner is always nice but i like it the way it is. Although I could be completely biased because the laptop that I had been using before was a monstrous 17 inch hp entertainment type which is SO heavy and has terrible battery life.
Oh and I bought mine at this site called xoticpc which gives the option of customizing the hard drive and ram and pretty much everything else which is totally great because everywhere I was looking sold it with base options for way more. I left most of the stuff alone though because I?m a super poor college student who cant afford 8 gigs of ram and all that haha. But maybe you can afford it! And im totally not trying to advertise their site. It's really where i bought it and it's a great site from my experience =)
Anyways, i freaking LOVE this thing. It runs everything i throw at it really well and is gorgeous! I even love how the vent is along the side which keeps the whole thing super cool. Oh my gosh AND one of the biggest reasons why i got this thing was the warranty. One year of accident protection and two years? worth of general warranty! Yay :) -

Pros: All good...except...
Cons: Except:
1) Unusable Touchpad...mouse bounces all over the place...unfixable.
2) Wireless adapter is clunky and never finds new networks easily. Will not handshake with new wifi networks.Summary: Will never buy an ASUS laptop again if Asus doesn't honor their 2 year warranty and fix the touchpad problem (Elan software is made by EMC!)...Some say it's a hardware short problem. But the touchpad is junk!
