"Bulky and heavy?" on by pjcamp

Pros: Computing horsepower in a small package

    Cons: Twisted Nematic screen

Summary: According to your review of the Macbook Pro 13 inch, it weighs 4.5 pounds. That means the Asus is only 0.3 pounds heavier (less than 5 ounces) and for significantly higher computing power, battery lifetime, AND a removable battery. Does that really count as "heavy?" They're almost identical weights.

Bulky & heavy? It's within 1mm of a macbook at it's widest point. It's a tenth of a pound heavier. It has twice as much RAM, a discrete, switchable graphics card and a superior CPU, as well as a larger/faster hard drive. The macbook has a longer lasting battery-as would be expected from a machine that doesn't measure up spec-wise.

I agree with the people above about CNET is now being a Apple fanboy. In my opinion, CNET is losing their credibility. Seems to me that CNET tries to put apple products into as many articles as possible.

Clearly this is vastly inferior to a MacBook: according to Apple's specs, the basic MacBook weighs 4.7 lbs. This Asus weighs an entire ounce extra and is a full 9/100s of an inch thicker! According to Laptop Magazine benchmarks the U30Jc has a markedly faster processor, a much better GPU, and 2 hours more battery life. The Asus has twice the RAM, a larger hard drive, an extra USB port, an HDMI port, and aluminum surfaces instead of polycarbonate.

Appallingly, the ul30Jc is only $100 cheaper than a MacBook! Can you believe the audacity of Asus? Clearly, you should run to your nearest store to buy the obviously superior MacBook.

CNET is bias to the point one might think they have some incentive to give favourable reviews to certain products and knock others for no real reason. I'm not sure if anyone remembers the whole GameSpot incident from a few years ago where a reviewer was removed because he criticized a game after the developer had invested heavily in advertising on the site. Reviews for all Apple products on here are completely bias, and a great deal of effort is exerted to find the smallest of errors with competing products to justify that they never score higher than an Apple product.

Agreed. CNET is lately becoming the biggest site for ludicrous "Apple fandom" I mean they haven't reviewed any of the newest tablet pcs out there because.....they dont want you to know that something besides the iPad exists? im not sure, but its annoying. TabletPCreviews site does not cut it. Not to mention the fact that Cnet compares EVERYTHING to apple products, whether or not they are comparable. I personally hate OSX and try to avoid it at all costs. I love apples hardware, but there software just sucks for usability in my opinion. I know lots of people disagree, but were not ALL apple fanboys! cnet needs to realize this and start making unbiased reviews based on the category something is in, rather then the apple product that it looks similar to.

Cnet has degenerated into a website infamous for its bias and its writers' incompetence. It seems like 4/5 news articles are dedicated to the iPad. When it comes to notebooks, it tries to find excuses to rag on non-Apple notebooks. .3 pounds of difference? Really? What about the superior graphics computing power? CPU processing power? Wow. Just wow.

They do the same with car reviews. If it's not a Camry or a Honda, they'll find the most ludicrous reasons to give a car a 3/5 star rating instead of a 4/5. That's why when one reviewer took off a star for GPS functionality without paying attention to driving/steering dynamics or ride quality, the CNet user community called him out for being a ******. Funny how the 3/5 star review contrasted with the 4.5/5 star reviews posted by actua lreal owners.

CNet, you've truly disappointed me. Now I visit your website for comedy rather than for unbiased, objective reviews for my electronic gadget needs.

    Spot on.

CNET has degenerated into one of many Apple fanboy review spewing websites. It's no longer a good, objective source for unbiased reviews.

If their problem isn't leaving out personal bias, it's incorrectly reviewing vehicles. The Hyundai Azera as an example has consistently reviewed high scores on other REAL auto magazines and websites that ACTUALLY use real criteria for evaluating this car. The idiot who reviews this car doesn't test the car under different driving conditions, literally makes up ******** about the car not being able to handle bumps and turns, and thus invites the puzzlement and ire of actual Azera car owners who love their cars.

This is too funny....even I must admit Dan is showing more then a little bias against this Asus U30JC-A1 laptop. He of course is entitled to his opinion, but one look around the net and you can see that for the most part..this laptop is killing the competition on almost all fronts. I'm with you guy's..what's up with knocking the weight? CNET defines the Thin and Light category of laptops as one which weighs 4-6 lbs...that's THEIR definition not ours. This laptop weighs in at 4.8 lbs....w/ 4GB/Quad-Core Core i3/Nvidia Optimus/ 320GB disk/DVD Drive/..not to mention the battery life... This is an easy Editor's Choice selection on most sites..
