"Thank you Dell!! Great Choice!"
Pros: Great screen, wireless n, fast processor
Cons: Subpar speakers
Summary: I ordered my 1521 on August 3rd and had it by the 16th. I've seen and read a lot of user comments on the slow ship/build times associated with these and Dell...not sure what's up. I avoided anything that stated, "Option may delay shipping time"...I know that seems obvious, but a lot of the complaints seem to be centered around the color choice options. Anyhow, I've had a Toshiba for over 4 years, and while I was reluctant to switch, I gave it a try and have been very please. My Toshiba has an AMD, as does the 1521 and I have no problems with AMDs. The RAM is 2GB (Vista sucks it up so get all you can) and I got the high gloss screen with the upgraded resolution. I have had no problems running any programs or games...even several at once. The wireless n works great and is also compatible with b and g networks. The keyboard is responsive without any mushy keys and the touch pad mouse works just fine and has both vertical and horizontal scrolling. The laptop seems to run very quiet and pretty cool. I'm still getting used to Vista, has some cool features but also some annoying ones as well. My only dislike is the speaker quality. My 4 year old Toshiba has much better sounding speakers and are mounted on the surface of the lower portion. These are mounted on the front lower edge and reflect sound down towards the table...not sure if that was on purpose or what but they sound terrible. Now, with that said, if you're buying a laptop for the high speaker quality, then maybe you should keep looking. Overall, a great puchase and I'm very happy!
