"Poor service on a defective product."
Pros: Couldn't fix the date/time, but computer otherwise worked well for the first 6 months.
Cons: Motherboard fried twice in first year under waranty. Dell replaced. Happened again 2 weeks after 12 month warranty ended. Dell won't do anything. Clearly a defective product, but dell refuses to take responsibility. Very poor service throughout.
Summary: Laptop orked well enough until problems with the motherboard. Didn't have problems with other dell products before, now I know what the service is like. Right now, can't see buying a dell product again.

3 days out-of-box the computer bluescreened. Since purchased in July '08, I have had to make many 2-3 hour phone calls due to computer not turning on or just stops working. Most recently, the hard drive died. So, with 3 months left on the waranty, I call to inform Dell's IT department about the error code I am receiving. The rep lets me know that they are sending a "new hard drive", which i will have in 2 days. The hard drive arrives in 2 days, (which is the only thing that has impressed me with Dell thus far), only to find that they have sent me a "REFURBISHED" 120gb HD in place of a "BRAND NEW" 250gb HD. I was informed by Dell that refurbished can mean only the seal on the package has been broken. I ran a scan the next day and found 564 hours(23.5 days) logged on the HD. Currently, I am waiting for a call back through the escalation dept. who can send me a 250gb HD which "MIGHT" be "new". I WILL NEVER BUY DELL AGAIN.
