"very low quality" on by cmpusr
Pros: if you really need a computer, i mean really, and are strapped for cash, this might work.
dont expect a high quality computer, because this is certainly not it.Cons: too many flaws; fan always on and super loud even when the computer is off. programs dont work right and slow; screen very dark and difficult to see if not plugged in; dvd player too sensitive, skips and/or totally stops if washer is on nearby!
Summary: very low quality computer, very problematic; with a bit more money or even the same amount you can get a better computer that'll actually last and work right. mine crashed within the first week and they replaced it, but this one still has many problems. it looks pretty, and the weight is ok (though it needs be lighter considering its limitations, that's another thing) but I'd much rather have it look archaic and be tough and actually work, than be this pretty piece of trash.

"complete hatred." on by tev0016
Pros: nothing at all
Cons: too bulky for class, overheats, problems with vista, keys stick for no reason
Summary: I bought this laptop in february, hoping that it would last me until i finish college (three to four years). The very first time i turned it on, the screen went blank for no reason. had to restart by pressing the power button. This happened again a couple of weeks later. I had a bad feeling about it then, but I was past the return point, so i couldn't take it back. The second week of april (just as all my final papers were due for classes!) the motherboard completely crashed. the whole computer died. screen blank, lights blinking, unable to start at all. I sent it in for a replacement, which took three weeks. Got it back beginning of may and it was working fine. NOT A MONTH LATER my battery begins to randomly not charge. will recognize the adapter, but will not charge. this happens maybe once a week, then slowly rose in frequency to the point where i am now lucky if i can get it to charge. this is another problem with the motherboard, the NEW one that Dell put in for me. so now, at the beginning of september, with classes starting on wednesday, i have to give up my laptop for another three weeks to have them replace the motherboard again. i thought this would be reliable, but it's turning out to be a piece of junk.
lots of problems with vista as well, but that isn't dell's fault. the build quality of the laptop is, though. don't bother. -
"A good laptop for the money" on by circe81
Pros: It's a Dell, Core 2 at a reasonable price, volume controls on keyboard
Cons: Could be lighter; top lid is flat black- easily shows fingerprints
Summary: I got the I1525-122B model at Best Buy about 3 weeks ago and paid $600. I am very happy with it. I'll admit I just use it for recreational home use, not for work or school, so I don't know how it is for that. Considering that I only use it for entertainment, I didn't want to spend more than $600, but I was willing to spend up to that to get a laptop that will last. I think I got the best laptop for the money.

"Decent Laptop on a Budget" on by Shika28
Pros: I purchased the Inspiron 1525 in 2007. As a bachelor in the midst of a life transition (moving to a new state, finding a job, preparing to return to college) this laptop served me well. It's not flash and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who's looking fo
Cons: None, really. I think any disappointment with this model will come from higher expectations than the hardware can reasonably deliver. But if you're looking for a modest laptop to do some basic tasks, this is a good choice.
