"Don't buy! It doesn't last even a year! Poor quality!" on by studentkate
Pros: love windows 7 much better then vista. great set up though follow through is poor
Cons: poor screen connection and battery (9 cell). it is always flickers and goes out. sent back to dell they gave me another battery which also sucks!
Summary: I bought this laptop about a year ago. I was great for a few months unil the screen started to flicker. I was in school and unable to sent it back for a few months though I generally had to stop using the laptop without the charger because when attatched to the battery only, the laptop would flicker. I found out that this is a major problem with the laptop and I sent it back to Dell for help. They sent me another battery just three months gao and the flickering has already begun. They wanted me to extend my warranty for so they would fix their own mistakes for free after their $250 fee for another one year of warranty! I said no and they sent me this battery which is already acting up. They won't fix it again without a $50 fee just to look at it not including all shipping and the obvious cost of the new battery which they will sent to me in a seperate box with another shipping fee. This laptop was not made to last and Dell's poor response has made me come to the conclusion that I will NEVER waste my money on a Dell again. BUY a HP or Apple.

"Clunky, poorly engineered" on by GladiusThrust
Pros: It's a computer
Cons: Two power supplies have failed now within 2yrs. Dell's whole involvement in rectifying THEIR mistakes seems to be to get you to buy extended service plans, for which you will be blessed to have to talk to Biff from Bombay if you have more problems.
Summary: Dell is resting on their laurels, buy elsewhere

"3 Dell laptops all have broken hinges. Am I unlucky????" on by hopethisisuseful
Pros: The laptops work fine and cost £350-£400 in the UK the US is cheaper.
Cons: The hinges are rubbish and not sufficiently robust.
Summary: One 1545 laptop broke within a year, I managed to get it fixed in warranty. Two broke within 2 years,1 was an earlier model, the other 1545 was not covered under the extra warranty i'd taken out. It will cost £159 in the UK for Dell to fix. Dell support say there is no defect with the laptop, it is wear and tear. I Google'd UK with "Dell Inspiron 1545 broken hinges" and get 6850 results. Not all complaints I'm sure, (some are offering fixes) but worth a look. If you buy I hope you are luckier than me.

"I'm sorry I bought a Dell Inspiron 1545 computer" on by astorix
Pros: It looks nice.
Cons: Besides having to have the hard disk drive replaced, the cursor jumps when I try to type (sometimes deleting whole paragraphs), I can barely hear a sound even when volume controls are max, Windows 7 system crashes repeatedly, etc.
Summary: I see from past reviews that some users of the Dell Inspiron 1545 are pleased with their computers. That would lead me to believe that I happened to get a lemon. However, when I plugged the cable to my printer into one of the two USB ports on the left side of my computer, next to the power supply port, I got an immediate warning that the power supply was inadequate. I can't help but feel this model is not well designed.
