"Best decision I made after plenty of research" on by dpowell8888
Pros: Bright screen for outside; long long battery life
Cons: heavy for a 14.1" laptop but not too bad
Summary: I've owned it now for about 6 weeks. The 9-cell gives me a 6.5 hour battery life on average and when I add the ultra bay I'm close to 11-11.5 hours. I predominantly have open several Office programs, Ie, photoshop, and acrobat. I'm not a gamer or movie watcher.
The screen is awesome - you can see clearly and easily in a conference room with the sun baking down behind me, outside in the park, or driving. The red-led to light up the keyboard is my personal favorite.
To note, I have had a Thinkpad and this Latitude 620 ATG blows that away in every category except weight. And while it is heavy in comparison to a T61, the weight is more like that of an average 15" laptop. -
"Still has Items Industrial user need" on by bohica1956
Pros: Still has a serial port, bright screen and rugged design
Cons: Heavy when I travel
Summary: I work in manufacturing area and laptops do not hold up. Still uses 600 items Floppy drives card ect. Hard to find a laptop anymore with a serial port which is still used to program industrial equipment. (USB-serial) only work 50% of the time. Faster than my 600 machine

"No good for enterprise systems and large amount of data" on by CPA_user
Pros: sceen size, large keyboard
Cons: battery, processing speed, freezes often
Summary: I work at XYZ accounting firm and have swiped out this computer four times within the last year for one reason or another. Perhaps we load too much software on this thing, but I have worked on two other non-Dell laptops in the past and have never had so many computing problems. One of the biggest problems is the battery. The extended life battery makes the laptop very heavy but the regular battery life is less than an hour. Additionally, when I run excel models on my laptop it crashes. Finally it takes 15 - 20 minutes to boot up in the morning.
Perhaps this laptop is fine for light computing, but it is awful if you plan to load lots of software and use programs that take a lot of processing speed. -
"Ships with spare parts now (ex. adapter)" on by tienholin
Pros: Low prices on clearance sales
Cons: AC adapter and cable don't fit, even after replacement; spare parts policy
Summary: Beware of the clearance sale going on for a while. My laptop arrived with a 3-pin AC adapter and a 2-hole power cable. Then DELL send a 3-hole cable that still does not fit (one as a triangle-like distribution, the other in a line). After this the representative said that he cannot find a cable for this adapter, and admits that they shipped spart parts in the first place. Due to company policy they can only send out spare parts. Actually the D620 customization page listed slim 65w auto/air/ac adapter, but the product shipped is different.
Other than this, it is heavy and bulky than competitors, but has lower prices. Mine is intel core solo, but start up is fast and running applications is OK.
