Pros: Great looks. Solid construction, it is a beautiful machine.

Cons: Computer freezes or reboots after closing the lid. It has happened with two computers. Dell wanted to send a technician to have the motherboard changed, on a three day old computer!!

Summary: I bought an XPS two weeks ago and from the start it froze or rebooted after closing the lid. So I spent 8 hours on the phone with Dell tech trying to work this out but it did not work. Finally a return tag was issued and I sent it back. I trust (or trusted) Dell so I immediately bought a new XPS assuming it had just been a one in a thousand situation.

The new XPS arrived three days ago and, surprise!, from the beginning it showed the same symptoms as the other one. So i have spent the better part of my morning talking to 9, yes nine, Dell people to try to figure this out. In the ed I was told that they were going to send a technician to have the motherboard replaced, on a brand new computer!!

When I said no they gave me the other option. A replacement that will arrive after filling out all the paperwork, in 10 to 15 business days! I am not kidding.

And their final words "thank you for choosing Dell". I really regret choosing Dell this time. Maybe, after many many years of fighting it I might had to switch to Mac.

I am so in agreement with you. I bought the computer 3 weeks ago and due to my loathing of setting up any new technology I waited to fire it up. Well I did last night and ...jeez, can't get online. Well let's rephrase that. After the programs all did their obligatory updating my internet access froze. Dell wants to try to tell me it's my router. Um, no, it's not. My OTHER TWO DELL computers are working just fine on the internet thank you very much.

Despite the fan noise and the funky tracking of the pad, the two deal breakers to me were: 1) no internet? Intermittent internet? I don't think so; and 2) 2.5 hours of battery life after I unplugged it? Could have sworn I read that it had more. Dell shame on you. I was a loyal Dell customer. Not anymore. So sorry.
