Summary: First, I have to say that no one on this message board can bash this notebook because none of you have even used it (unless you went to E3). Secondly, this thing is revolutionary, in that it is Windows Media Center PC that takes up a fraction of the space as a normal computer and uses less power (a major concern this summer!). You can't simply give it a low rating just because it is heavy. This is a new class of notebook that probobly should be called deskbook because that is what is looks like its for. It really isn't meant to be carried twenty blocks down a city street unless you have been working out. Maybe windows will release its own version of Apple's "Bootcamp" and then it would be 10 out of 10.

I understand why you like Apple and I will say no more. But since Apple does not sell its operating system to any computer manufacturers, everyone else has to use Windows. Deal with it! -

Summary: I have been using my M2010 for about 3 months now - until the motherboard gave out. At least that is what the telephone tech thought based on the blinking codes coming out of it during the test mode. Now Dell has been tracking down a replacement part and has not been able to do so yet. We are now going on week 2 of the parts search with them with no end in sight.
While this is a great machine to use when it is working, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone that needs reliability. I understand that things do occasionally break down, but without the ability to supply spare parts, Dell doesn’t provide their customers with any option other than just wait it out. And the warranty that they sell for “Nights and Weekends” as well as the “Next Business Day” fix are only valid if they have the parts available, so the fine print on those contracts really makes them relatively useless.
I have learned my lesson here. I wanted the slick new machine, but I would have been better off purchasing a unit that Dell sells more of than they do of the M2010. That way when a repair is needed, they will have the parts available. -

Summary: This computer is not an imac. I have seen about 20 reviews with people comparing it to an imac. the imac is a desktop and this is quite obviously meant to be moved. No, it is not portable like a Macbook Pro or a Dell Inspiron or the new Lenovo x60. But it is meant to be moved around. If it wasn't, they wouldn't have attached a handle to the back of it. The imac has no handle. The keyboard does not attach itself to the imac. The imac is not meant to be pulled out at a business meeting. Apple offers many laptops for that purpose. I am a recent mac recruit, but I did use PC's for a long time and I still like them. I think Dell has definitely hit on something here, a portable desktop computer. After they work out a few kinks it could possibly be the new thing in computers.
However, it is bogged down by an incredible price tag and a bulky design. I went to Dell's website and comparably outfitted one to the same specifications as my old Powerbook g4. When outfitted, it was over 4000 dollars!! That is just insane. But it does come with a pull-off bluetooth keyboard and an amazing speaker system for a computer its size.
Computer manufacturers will soon realize that 20" is just too big to carry around. It is not portable. However, I have not seen a design as good as this in a long time and I think if it is scaled down just a bit it will be a great addition to Dell's already gerat lineup of PC's. -

Summary: I have had this machine for about a month and it is a total disaster. As I type this on my desktop, the M2010 is sitting on my desk locked up while trying to shutdown. I have spent about 4 hours on the phone with Dell discussing this crate of trouble, so far.
The fact that it does not have a PCMCIA slot is just the start of the troubles you will have with this machine.
Stay away from this one!!! The worst computer Dell ever created.Updated
This lemon of a computer is why there need to be consumer protection laws for computer buyers. It is the buggiest piece of **** I have ever bought. $4500 down the drain. Dell should have issued a voluntary recall on this product and the fact that they have not is proof that there need to be consumer protection laws for computer buyers. With the latest Windows Vista update my piece of **** Dell M2010 has now stopped working entirely. Without exageration I have spent more time troubleshooting the computer than doing work on it. My last Dell without any doubt. Stay away from this ****** company!!! -

Summary: The very week that this came out I had been complaining about my laptop not having everything my desktop has when I travel etc. I have a desktop, another XPS laptop (about 2 years old), and a gorgeous lightweight Apple, but this is perfect. It truly is a portable desktop - it's not supposed to be a laptop, so no it doesn't fit on your lap. I am converting my desktop for other use now and work and travel with this. This does have a market and it's me. Clearly those who have posted here and haven't purchased it or haven't used it - are not the target market for tihs product. Great graphics, love the keyboard being detachable and the pivot on the screen - just excellent in every way.
