"Perfect Student Notebook"4.0 starson by 70oldsowner
Pros: small size and lightweight, great performance, nice layout and features, security and application panel wonderfully convenient, great wireless reception, full-size keyboard, good price
Cons: glossy screen hard to see outdoors in daylight and is not widescreen, speakers are horrible
Summary: I am a finance major, and I highly recommend this notebook for any student in a similar field. I have used this product for a semester, and have no regrets at all. I should note that I upgraded to 512 mgs of memory. I have many Apple-freak friends, and this computer has amazed them with its performance, reliability, and incredible size and weight. It has dispelled the notion once and for all that Apples can in any way compete with a properly set up PC. When all of my friend's apples were quitting on them during the last few weeks before finals, my Fujitsu kept on ticking. It has never let me down. It runs multiple programs at the same very smoothly. The security and application panel is one of the nicest features. It allows the user to set either a simple or complex numeric password to protect the notebook and allows the user to launch any of their four prefered programs instantly with the touch of a button. It handles all of the programs commonly used by business students and the like without any problems. The upgraded memory is very nice and allows the machine to perform very quickly for a product in its price range. It was nice to get a DVD-R drive instead of the usual CD-RW drive. The wireless receiver is amazing. I am the only person in my building that I know of who hasn't had a problem receiving and connecting to our school's wireless network. The 40 gig hard drive, while not great, is acceptable. The S7010 includes both a touch pad and touch stick. The touch pad is a tad too close to the keyboard and I kept hitting it while typing. I disabled that and use just the touch stick. The keyboard is nicely designed and easy to use. Unfortunately, the glossy screen is difficult to use outdoors during daylight, and the speakers are absolutely useless. Despite these shortcommings, I would highly recommend this for any student who needs a solid notebook.Updated
I forgot to mention that the Fujitsu has a wonderfully long battery life as well. I also feel I should comment on it's simple good looks. Not flashy, not blocky and plain, it is conservatively styled and achieves a sleek and graceful look. A word of advice: cut a piece of soft cloth/felt to place between the keyboard and the screen when shut, as the screen tends to get scratched and smudged rather easily otherwise.
