Really Nice Laptop
Pros: Plenty of Power!
Cons: Low Battery Life, slow hard drive. Limited Video RAM
While this laptop isn't the latest and greatest, it's still got plenty of horsepower to get things done. The AMD Athlon 64 CPU is overkill for surfing the web, email and such. But that's not why you would get a laptop like the 7510GX. The 7510GX is for light gaming and multimedia. The 15.4" diag. screen is in a widescreen configuration and is gorgeous.
For gaming, the laptop is able to keep up with all but the most recent, most demanding (video-wise) games. GTA San Andreas plays smoothly at a fairly low resolution (800x600) with none of the extra eye candy enabled (AA and AF).
The 7510GX's video system is limited to 64 MB of video RAM. While it is discrete (separate from the main pool of system RAM), it's never going to be the same as one with 128 or 256 or even 512 MB of dedicated RAM. As such, forget about running Windows Vista with Aero. However, with a GB of system memory, it shouldn't have too much trouble with Vista Basic.
DVDs play smoothly full screen or windowed.
The hard drive runs at a leisurely 4200 RPM. Given this laptop is more desktop replacement than mobile powerhouse, you'd think that Gateway would have splurged a bit and put at least a 5400 RPM drive into the unit. A 5400 RPM drive isn't going to eat a significantly larger amount of battery life than the existing 4200 RPM drive.
As for battery life. It could be better. But then again, this is a desktop replacement class laptop. As long as you keep in mind this laptop isn't designed for a marathon mobile session, you'll be ok. A brand new Gateway battery will typically last you about 2 1/2 hours on a full charge.
Overall, it's still a good laptop for most people looking for an inexpensive laptop that's got some horsepower to get things done.

Great graphics and speed for price!
Pros: I have nothing to compare a laptop to, but this beats my hyperthreading top dollar PC by far . I actually have MX7515 which is Best Buy's version of same product.
Cons: heavy and short battery life of about 1 1/2 hrs

Suprised & Happy!
Pros: Fast, does not hesitate, made me a beliver in Gateway! I Purchased my Gateway from Best Buy. I compared to many laptops for my use of movie editing, Picture editing, music, mp3's.
Cons: None so far...
Great thing was when I powered up my laptop, it automaticly recognized my wireless network, all I had to do was enter my key code to access the internet and away I went.
Loading things I needed did not take long. Thank God for the 1 gig on the memory.
Only thing that was a little troublesome was the battery life was only 2 hours when I was mobile. I still would not get the Centrino. I need power and this has it!
I would recommend this to anyone who wants power in a laptop and is man enough to use it as it should be used. Hey, with 100 gig on the hard drive, what can't you do?, especially for the price.

Cons: *Battery Life isn't as good as Pentium M's (2.5 hours is the best you'll get with this beast). I have yet to find the driver download from Gateways website. This retail sale model isn't liste

Best bang for the buck pre-dual core you can get.
Pros: Johnny Damon: Excellent display, proper RAM (1GB) and full size DVD burning
Cons: Johnny Flame: Video card is a notch down from extreme gamer, batteries have not been made to keep up with these new gamer notebooks.
Sweet machine like this should go with XP Pro and since it is 64-bit it should allow for free upgrade to the 64-bit OS.
Minus 1: I tried to use Recovery Media Creator to burn a DVD. After 2 bad burns (stayed at Finalizing for over 30 mins.) I called Tech Support. If you use Ctrl+Shift+I, you can create an .iso of it. Well, guy gave me the wrong steps so I ended up with a single file on the DVD instead of using the Image Burn (where the 4th DVD is finally good.)
Minus 2: Now that I had the Restore DVD formatted the system for XP-Pro 64-bit. 4 or 5 of the devices do not have a driver yet so wasn't too happy. (Went back to XP Home...more to follow.)
Plus 1: Loaded up Everquest and was lagless in some of the most populated areas of the game.
Minus?(Anyone experiencing sticky spacebar??)
